I thought Symantec only provided support (which include the updates) for paying customers?

You will get updates. The new version was just a patch from the old one (16.0.0.125) and is a update.

    Hi ambient :)

The Trial Of NIS 09 .. Is The Full Working Software :)

    It's Just...
Once The Trial - Runs Out .. It Will Stop Working! :'(
    Unless...
    1/ You Pay For A Subscription - Product Key ( e.g. 12 months )
2/ You Enter Your Product Key ... That you purchased from a store ( e.g. The Product Key that came with your NIS - Disk )

When people need to Reinstall NIS for some reason.
    OR..
When people wish to do a clean upgrade from one version to another.
    ( e.g. NIS 08 to NIS 09 )
They often download a Trial of NIS to do this ;)
    That way...
You make sure you get a fresh install of the latest NIS software release :D

    However!
I personally think it would be a lot easier.
If Symantec was to always make sure...
The latest version of the software .. Was available to download via our - Norton Account

Zeena, I am fully aware that the trial is a fully-functional version. I was a bit surprised that Symantec pushed the update (16.1.0.33) to non-paying customers. Based on my experience, Symantec usually doesn't allow non-paying customers (trial included) to get patches, unless it is critical in nature (ie. patching security vulnerabilities).

The fix involved fixing a bug that was not allowing people to get definition updates as quickly and reliably as possible, which i would term critical. Also, if Symantec wants people to purchase the product, logic tells me they should make the trial software work as it should.

I guess you're right. After testing NIS so many times, I got used to the fact that they'll never push bugfixes to non-paying customers. Maybe they changed that now, which I believe is for the better.
