    This is a partition restore ....

    Boot into IFL
    Restore
    Normal
    File (Direct)
    Linux
    choose the HD containing the image (probably sdb)
    select the backup image
    you will see a tick in Drive with "Partial" further along the line. There is also a tick in the Partition box
    Linux
    choose the HD containing your Win8 (probably sda)
    select the Partition containing Win8
    on the Warning screen make sure it's the correct HD. Yes to continue.
    Select
    * Validate Before Restore
    * Validate Byte-for-Byte
    * leave tick in Log Results to File
    ignore First Track Sectors AUTO (greyed out)
    ignore Resize partition
    Start

    When you create your IFL CD or USB flash drive, double click makedisk.exe and choose Custom. This allows you to select 2048 sector alignment for Global Geometry.

    I reformat the drive and install a non-bloated copy of Windows, just did this to a new one not long ago, getting ready to do another soon
