With Norton's rep now a days its will take them a few years to fix it if not more they are overhauling there software making a smaller footprint making it use less ram and not such a pain to uninstall. there dectection seems to be going up along with being able to Remove a Virus  never thought I would ever hear my self say that

give them a few years if they keep overhauling there software Norton could very well be competing with KAV and NOD. on performance and detection

In early 1999, Symantec brought out IBM AntiVirus and Intel LandDesk AntiVirus to compete with McAfee's brought out of Dr Solomons. But after the brought out, they don't seem to be able to keep the detection rate of Dr Solomon's and IBM AntiVirus, especially McAfee these few years.

Only in Options. they have not hit the detection rate of both. yet. and they still use more resources then NOD and KAV Nod uses around 20-30 megs Norton is still using around 100 megs for its products. :doubt: but its geting lower, lighter and faster every year.
