    Yes your ISP will know you are connected to a VPN but they will not be able to read your traffic or tell what the destination of your traffic is. What your ISP will see is the IP of the VPN server you are accessing. If you want and idea of what your ISP will see when you are using a VPN download Network Miner: http://www.netresec.com/?page=NetworkMiner make sure you monitor your network adapter and not TAP32 (OpenVPN). You will notice it will show the IP of the VPN server you are connected to but not the traffic since it is encrypted.
