I always use the Beta or RC and it always gets updated to the latest version! https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1599652&postcount=1

    Print problem

    Hi.

I'm having the printing problem experienced by various posters. I set the SafeOnline security to "Medium" to see if the problem could be fixed, but the problem persists (I restarted my computer after making this change).

    I'm using version 3.0.5.46 RC.

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, the issue is still being followed up on - although it is probably the hardest issue to pinpoint, unfortunately. A remote support session may end up being the fastest way to solve it but in the meantime, can any user who is having the printer issues try this precise set of steps:

After having a SafeOnline license in place already:
    - Click Configure next to SafeOnline Browser Security
Select "Configuration for all HTTPS websites"
    - Using the scroll bar under "Security Configuration", drag it down from Maximum to High
    - Click Save
    - Click Close
    - Reboot your PC

Specifically setting this value to "High" will trigger an override within Prevx which, from what I've seen, does correctly circumvent the issues with printers.

If it persists, please let me know! :)

Prevx will intentionally not distinguish between legitimate/illegitimate screen capturing utilities and in virtually all cases will block them regardless of their intent (as malware could use legitimate tools to capture screen contents).

This might be worth a remote support session - could you send me a PM if you'd be interested? I suspect there is some clash but I haven't seen any other reports of problems with IE7 (and for what it's worth, does it work properly on Firefox, just causing problems on IE?)

Re: New test version of Prevx and SafeOnline - v3.0.5.43

This is intentional - we can't be 100% sure that the screen content is fully off the screen so we will, in most cases, protect the screen until the browser is fully closed.

We primarily don't have the screenshot protection on by default on the rest of the system because users are more likely to use software which requires screen capture functionality outside of their browsers. In the end, the most confidential information which SafeOnline is looking to protect is coming from your bank - while it is a "nice to have" with protecting other things like Solitaire games, our initial group of test users found it to be too cumbersome because of the somewhat draconian approach of blocking screen contents.

The only "gray" area comes from screen grabber protection and that is also the aspect most likely to be disabled by the end user anyway as it provides the lowest amount of additional protection. Even on the "High" level with no real screen grabber protection in place, SafeOnline blocks screen grabbers (and their much-more-potent form injection attack brother) from accessing the browser contents. Otherwise, the green browser tab is a very clear indicator of where protection exists and where it doesn't. Note that it is also possible to have screen grabber protection on when there is a blue tab (as I mentioned above, because of the way that protection remains loaded even when browsing around).

This is indeed a good idea - I'll see what we can do to enable some global screenshots to take place for a specific time period :)

As a few of you have noticed, we have released a new RC build - v3.0.5.46 - which just has a few minor changes under-the-hood but one noticeable one which was requested here: clicking the 'X' on the GUI while scanning will now leave the scan running.

Let me know if you have any other thoughts! :thumb:

Very strange. I was having this problem but just done some initial testing (now running .46 release) and printing is working OK now on default (maximum) settings (as well as with above changes). Was still confused though why changing the HTTPs defaults would help printing from HTTP sites (which are set to Low anyway).
Will continue to test and will post here again if printing problem resurfaces.

UPDATE: Spoke too soon. Problem is back even with the suggested settings change. Oddly printing might work for a bit after a restart but once I get the error it then it seems to stay until the next reboot.

I tested your directions but the printing problem still persists here on Win7 x64. :'(

    Let's wait for a fix!

I had a printing problem earlier with v3.0.5.40 on Win7 x64 and IE.
    Solved it rather easily.
Not sure if this is of any use to anyone, but here's what I did to fix:

    Disable Prevx.
Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Security Tab
Click "Reset all zones to default ..."
    Save and Exit
    Reboot
    Re-enable Prevx.

I discovered the suggestion from some Microsoft MVPs - saying something about how some security programs can accidentally disallow scripting for printing in certain zones. - (serious paraphrasing as they were writing stuff that was over my head.)

Not sure if useful or worthless in troubleshooting by y'all customers or Prevx engineers.

Thanks a lot for your input, but my problem is with Firefox 3.5.7. I don't use IE at all (I should have pointed it out). My system is Win7 X64 too.

Waiting for a fix! :D
