Today marks the public release of the newest program from BillP Studios. Scotty's feline friend, Lady the Task Catcher is now available for review at http://www.taskcatcher.com.

You can be the first to see Task Catcher and set up your Watch and Black lists. Full functionality will be available soon. Registration codes will be available for select users and for low price of $12.95.

    Why add Task Catcher?

    • Even notice that one of your favorite programs have shut down and you don't know why? Task Catcher can restart it or alert you to any changes.
    • Want to be sure Spyware doesn't shut down Zone Alarm or WinPatrol?
    • Malware doesn't know about Task Catcher so they won't bother!
    • Want to be sure certain programs won't run? Black list it and Task Catcher will stop it in its tracks.
    • Multiple users on your computer? Black list certain programs so other family members won't run them without your permission.
    • WinPatrol PLUS user? PLUS access has been integrated into the application.
    • Using R.I.D. technology Task Catcher provides functionality beyond a typical version 1.0 release.

    Watch List
    Verify favorite programs are running

Task Catcher will keep an eye on important tasks you always want running on your system. Your feline friend won't allow Spyware to shutdown your protection.

Let Task Catcher know which programs you depend on and it will make sure that your program is always running. If Task Catcher doesn't see your Watched program, it will automatically restart it for you.

    Black List
    Prevent Unwanted Programs from running

Sometimes there are programs you never want started on your system. Programs added to your Black List will automatically be shut down when detected by Task Catcher.

    Kids using your computer?
Black Lists are unique and may be set up on a per user basis. Task Catcher will allow let you create a Black List of programs you want to make sure the kids can never run.

    Active Tasks
At any instance in time, your computer is running a number of programs or "Active Tasks". Some tasks are very important while others can just slow you down. Many are a part of the Windows operationg system and important to its operation. Others may be programs you want running at their peek performance. Stil others may be programs which have snuck on to your computer against your will. Task Catcher will allow you to see what tasks are running and help you control them.

I wonder how this compares to something like Process Guard or AntiHook (which is free).

I always liked Winpatrol, so I'll bet this is not too bad, but perhaps not as good as PG and AH, correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe that many of these features are already included with WinPatrol (monitoring active tasks, disabling troublesome programs that try to add themselves to startup lists, etc.). Does this mean that WinPatrol will be "removing" these features in future versions, and thus "forcing" users to buy the new product (to do the tasks WinPatrol PLUS users like myself currently enjoy)?

Good question! Also I couldn't find any info as to which OS Task Catcher works with. Further, TC's website is silent as to how well it protects ITSELF from shut-down.
