Especially since you spent $1300 USD minimum on it, right?

Surface systems have had this problem for over a year and MS has attempted 2 fixes so far. One was a driver fix that was a bit troublesome. It appears that the new 2017 models have the same or similar problem- I'm betting it is a hardware design issue that's not syncing well with the sleep/hibernation code in W10.

I see that the recommendation in the linked article is to return the unit to MS, but that is not going to make the problem go away. Not only that, if you return your brand new Surface to MS, they send you a refurbished unit in exchange, not a brand new one. The article suggests otherwise. Note that the MS return policy has a 14 day return deadline once the exchange process is underway - if you miss it they charge a fee to your credit card (it's in the small print). Retailers are more likely to give you a brand new replacement if they have your model in stock otherwise they offer a full refund or store credit.

Dealing with MS support on this is not going to be easy either, especially if you want to start the exchange process. MS have only acknowledged that a few users have reported the problem and that they are investigating it. They have not stated that they acknowledge the problem exists and are working on a fix (re: for the 2017 models).

What a bunch of BS! Their service is non existent, their forums are not answered by M$ personnel. M$ has the poorest customer service in the industry.
