    Hi, I'm Mitch, a new member. I'm seeking advice about how to update Avast anitvirus home edition. Last year, my computer had an adware virus, and I had to call a technician to fix the problem. At that time, he downloaded free Avast antivirus software into my computer, which scans the computer every time it is in screen saver. I was told such software is good for one year. My question is: The one year time period will expire shortly, and I'm not sure how to proceed now. A friend mentioned something about my needing to receive a license key update, and to activate that, in order to receive a one year subscription renewal, but I'm really not sure. Any advice would be appreciated. I can be contacted at {email snipped - please use PM - Blue}

    Thanks,
    Mitch

    You can go to http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php and get avast! to send you another free registration to your email address. They want you to re-register the free version every 14 months, presumably to keep track of how many users they really have. You just enter the new code into the program and are good until next year.

    Also, if you have any other Avast specific questions they have an offical support forum which I have listed below.

    Let's not assume all the "tech" did was install Avast! and call it a day. IF he did then shame on him. ;) In any event I'm sure he was paid for labor and not Avast.

    Wrong link. ;) .

    Some typo probably, but not a big deal.

    It should be: http://forum.avast.com/ *puppy*

    I agree that Avast forum is the best place for questions.

    I thought i may include if you ever want to check the time your Avast registration key expires, right click on the Avast icon/click on about Avast/look under registration key/ you can then see what the Expiration Date is of the key.
