    Hello guys and gals,

I'm a very new member and have a couple of questions regarding the following line in the HijackThis log I recently found:

    [Microsoft Update 32] wininit32.exe

A friend tells me this is a VERY BAD THING but i'm a real computer Noob so don't know where to start to get rid of it!

Which forum should I be posting this problem in? o_O

Thanks for your time, any help is most gratefully recieved.

    Regards,

    Tom

Cochise: Yeah, I believe so, been doing some reading and looks to be a scary lil mofo - not happy bout havin this sucker in the least...

Got AVG freeware, Adaware, Spybot search & destroy, and RegistryFix - all updated and run em all, but when I run thru HijackThis and try to fix the Wininit32.exe file, it just keeps reappearing.

I have a problem, in that this machine I'm using at home is an old workgroup machine from a friends office that was obsolete cos he was upgrading - he reformatted the HD and reloaded XP Proffesional Edition for me and then gave it to me without the XP disc; XP is also unregistered, so i'm concerned about trying to update it with the various service packs.

PS - thanks for your help guys, much appreciated
