IMHO it blocks more ads. ABP doesn't really cut the mustard & do the job properly on Iron. The downside to the .ini is that it can't easily be turned off/on. I've often wondered if it may be one of the reasons that Iron seems (for me) to be faster & more responsive than Chrome, and quite a few people have claimed the same thing about Iron's speed. This has been suggested with some benchmark testing a while ago. I've been using Iron on & off for about as long as it's been out, compared to Chrome which is only quite recent for me. Even with its occasional bugs, I still prefer Iron. I always like a good back-up browser (usually to Firefox), IE is not really an option on my notebook & SeaMonkey's regularly losing extensions on successive upgrades is not a good omen for its future. Opera is buggier than a termite mound & Safari (Windows) just isn't stable IMO. Iron seems quite stable at the moment.

    Thanks for any help.
I have posted on the forum and have not gotten a reply.
    I am running Iron 15.0.900.1 Build 107001
    Windows 7 Pro
I would like to upgrade to the latest version but this will
be my 1st upgrade of Iron and I don't want to lose my
    bookmarks or settings.
Have no idea what Fanboy is or why I should use it.
I have no idea if the version I am using is portable or not.
At time point I am reluctant to upgrade.

The SRWare forums are not always immediately responsive. I think that they have translation problems.

Fanboy's list is a popular adblocking list often used with ABP. His list for Iron can be copied & pasted into the adblock.ini in the SRWare Iron folder on your computer's C-Drive. IMHO adblockers like ABP don't work well with Chromium based browsers, an opinion, incidentally, shared by quite a few others. So Fanboy's list is often employed.

    Click on this link: here

Then copy & paste it into the adblock file in the SRWare Iron Folder. As I said earlier, you may have to disable the UAC temporarily. The folder is in Local Disc C: - Program Files - SRWare Iron - adblock

The adblock folder opens as a Notepad file. You will see some writing in German & English purporting something along the lines of not to delete the file. You can delete the writing before you paste Fanboy's file list into it.

Did you download the Iron.exe from here? If so, you have the normal desktop version.

Unless you are using a Portable Apps version or downloaded the Portable zip, you almost certainly have the normal/regular (bog-standard as we say in England ;) ) version.

Just download the installer from the SRWare site hyper-linked above & run it as usual. Your bookmarks, theme, extensions etc should be fine.

    Thanks Daveski17,
Got the new Iron on my puter.
Also got Fanboy installed in the Iron Adblock folder.
Had a tad of trouble with the UAC even thought I am
    the administrator on my puter.
    Happy Holidays
