Since a few hours, I notice a new feature, 'Similar Threads', shown at the bottom of thread views, and also when composing a post.
Is there a way to disable this new feature, 'Similar Threads'?
I don't need this feature, and I find it both distracting and quite annoying, I'm sorry.
I don't find any setting in Preferences to disable the new 'Similar Threads' feature.

+1, and the "Similar Threads" don't even look related. I would also like to disable this 'feature'.

There sure is. There is a joinable user group called "Disable Similar Threads" which will turn that feature off.

You can grant yourself any joinable user group by pulling down your user control panel at the upper right, and selecting the option at lower right of choices: Join User Groups...

That gives you this screen. You can use the "Join User Group" link at the right of any available usergroup listed...

And, if you want to turn it back on, do the same thing and that option will be listed as "Leave User Group".

    Thank you very much, LowWaterMark.:thumb:
    That worked great.
I also disabled the "select text to auto-quote" feature, that I had seen for a long time but didn't know how to disable.

I never would have looked for such options in Join User Groups.
Are those options there, because you added them there, because there's no way to add them at a more logical location under Settings, like under Preferences? I guess so.
    Thanks very much once more!

    Earth .... occasionally
I couldn't get that to work ..... went through the steps described above , saw all the right results
but the " Similar Threads " panel is still here ..... I'm guessing it's a cookie issue at my end .
.... but refreshing and/or clearing browser cache has no effect .... strange !

I would have preferred an "opt-in " to this feature , but I feel the same about all aspects of this " modern paradigm " ,
where people must actively opt-out of something they neither wanted nor asked for in the first place :)

..... just my two escudos worth :)

@quietman It's counter intuitive. Here what worked was in the end looks like this.

Yes, I also think it's a bit annoying, and the bad news is that you obviously can't turn it off when you're not logged in.

It was just where I said it was.
If you don't see it - perhaps it has been disabled, by now?

I looked where you said, and don't see anything like what you describe. I looked at the Join Group thing, and haven't joined anything.

Would you post a screen shot showing one, then I can go look...

    thanks,

If it isn't there for you, or if it is, but it doesn't distract or annoy you, all the better.

Why? If it isn't there for you, or if it is, but it doesn't distract or annoy you, why bother?
As I disabled the Similar Threads feature through Join User Groups, Disable Similar Threads, it is no longer showing for me, so I cannot make a screen capture. I would have to re-enable the Similar Threads feature for that. But I see no use in that, as the Similar Threads feature doesn't seem to be there for you, so you have no need to disable it.

Thanks, JR! now I see what is going on:

I start Wilders with a macro that zooms the site to 170% for easier reading. The "similar threads" panel does not display at the bottom at that zoom range. Comparisons attached:

Thanks, Rmus, now I understand why you didn't see the Similar Threads panel.
My apologies for being a little snappy earlier on.
A female friend is ill, it may or may not be impending appendicitis, we're waiting for it getting better, or worse, in which case surgery may be necessary. So I'm rather fatigued and a little on edge. But that shouldn't have been an excuse to be snappy when you asked about the Similar Threads panel. I'm sorry, Rmus.
