Hi, guys, I wasn't sure which of the two FD forums to post this, so the Mods can move this to the other if more appropriate.

My question: once the Vista verison FD is out of beta and released to the public, would a person be able to obtain the new version of FD and put it onto his old system that has WinXP, AND THEN create an empty Snapshot, as you are able to do now, and install Vista into that empty Snapshot. Now you would have both WinXP and Vista on the same hard drive. Will this be possible? Thank you.

    Based on this quote :
    http://www.raxco.com/support/windows/FDISR/ISRHelp21RS.pdf (page 41)

I assume that this final version will be ready for installing :
    1. Win2000 (all versions)
    2. WinXP (all versions)
    3. WinVISTA (all versions)
in separate snapshots on ONE computer, if you like to complicate your e-life. :)

If I was interested in multipe operating systems, I would try Linux as an experiment. :D

So the new Vista version of FirstDefense will be backward compatible with WinXP? ... AND ... I will be able to install Vista into an empty Snapshot, just as you can XP with the current version?

That is my logical assumption, but I never tried it myself.
Only Leapfrog can answer that question.

I haven't tried it that way. I just tried an upgrade install, and didn't like much about it. It was safer just restoring an image.

Yes, that is possible with this new beta. I am running both XP and Vista on the same hard drive. I can just switch from one snapshot to the other with a reboot.

That is interesting set-up: hah, expanding the boundaries again; good stuff.
No problem with managing the Vista boot manager??

I assume FDISR preboot is 'getting there first' ??
From previous posts several users have ended up with FDISR as "Boot manager"

BING (current version)for instance requires some jigging to install Blista to separate partition and then take over from Blista boot manager in 'traditional' multiboot set-up.

Maybe the FDISR snapshots are a better multiboot option?

Btw anybody installed any flavour of Linux to an empty FDISR snapshot??
