Does this work on the newer UEFI/GPT boot as seen in Windows 8?

Yes, DS does support W8. Unfortunatley, the developer (Tom) doesn't maintain his website with regard to just about anything other than the Downloads section. It's pretty rare that he will even publish the changes that have taken place in each new version! That's the #1 complaint about DS.

I love the software and I will say that they usually answer my support questions (via email).

Tom's DS always worked very well on XP but i read little to no results on Windows 8 UEFI/GPT.

Anyone experiment with it on this new disk feature yet?

    EASTER,

I'm on W7, but I've been told that DS works just fine on W8 & UEFI. ;)

Thank You very kindly Wendi for sharing whats been told but that alone still does not yet satisfy the importance of this question.

Maybe a member with Windows 8 UEFI/GPT hdd. can come forward with their results with DS.

    Regards Easter

Indeed it is. For a imaging program of this midget size it is incredible in every way.

On my XP's which are many this is been the absolute only one that never failed one single time with countless numerous backups & restores. Fast and dependable.

That's why I'm interested if the UEFI/GPT disk compatibility is a proven repeated success or not.

No problem here on a Lenovo Thinkpad with Win8x64 installed in UEFI. Tried many restores.

The last version works fine in Samsung ATIV 500 UEFI/GPT, Windows 8 32bit I have two partitions C and D, recovering C from image-backup in D is perfect.

    Derson,

Is your OS is installed in UEFI mode? Win8 32-bit UEFI installs are unusual. Do you have an EFI System partition in Disk Management?

Yes, I mean, just updated Win 8 clean plus drivers etc, I created with the Windows Disk Management a D partition shrinking previously C. Disk Management "only" see three partitions, C,D, System reserved. The two last numerical version of DS worked perfectly.

Sorry to tell you this but your Windows is installed in MBR mode and not UEFI mode.

But these partitions are 50 Gb of 60 Gb total gpt disk, must be hidden partitions at least for Windows Disk Management, one of them for restart OEM Windows
Paragon saw more than three partitions but had problems.

Can you open an Administrator Command Prompt, type diskpart and press Enter. Type these lines (press Enter after each line)

    select disk 0
    list par

Can you post what you see in "list par" ? Or a screenshot?

Did you install Win8 in this computer or is it a factory install?

Thanks. UEFI has an EFI System Partition. MBR has a System Reserved Partition. But that's in English so it looks like your terms are different. I accept you have a UEFI Win8. Interesting.

I bought my Samsung ATIV 500 in February, of course with Win 8 32 bit OEM preinstalled, original 100%, ;)
For me the point is I tried a lot solutions and, in this moment, the most easy and smoothly in SD. For example, I tried AOMEI Backupper but it can´t see D partition, AX64 can see it but I got error, Paragon was fine for create a recovery image but problems afert recover C.

Thats a pretty good endorsement of Drive Snapshot, glad to know it works with newer systems.
