    Shame there is no customization allowed, cannot relocate toolbars, cannot move tabs to bottom where they are out of the way. back to Firefox, that IS customizeable and you can get the darn tabs down where they belong even in v65 betas. "Moving toolbars is not a feature" according to them...

    though not as customizable as ff, you can give vivaldi a shot if you like tabs at bottom. you can change the position of address bar, bookmarks bar and tabs, heck, you can even align'em to left or right vertically.

    Thanks, I'll try Vivaldi.

    Edited:

    Tried it, much more flexible than slimjet or chrome, But you STILL cannot get the tab bar at the bottom of the toolbars. There is an option to put it at the bottom of the whole window, but that's not what I want, I want it like this attached screenshot. FF lets me make a fairly easy change to userchrome.css to do that that works thru FF64, and can be tweaked for the FF 65 betas.

    i see. i guess ff is the only major browser allowing that. i thought quantum didn't support tabs on bottom. isn't it why many used to use classic theme restorer prior to quantum?

    I used to use that. Quantum killed the interface. You can do it with a few lines of code in userchrome.css, code available online at a few places via googling. It works thru FF quantum v64. 65 betas break it again, but there is a patch, again in userchrome.css to fix it by cut & paste, it works even better. IT doesn't work on 64 though. I wish they's stop trying to make it look like all the others trying to look like chrome.

    Found another browser, Midori, with a tab bar you can locate correctly :) . It's a bit wobbly tho, crashes a lot or locks up, at least in win 10 latest insider. The tab bar is moved with an option, which the others can't be bothered to let us have. Some, like me can't stand it at the top, some like iot there. I wish they'd all give us some leeway.

    Maybe removing the New in the title would be a good idea, it exist since ages.

    I am giving Slimjet a trial. It's great EXCEPT there is a "Shop on EBAY" click spot added to the top left of every Slimjet header. You can see it in the screenshot below -- it's the circular icon just to the right side of the Home button. Oddly enough, the EBAY icon appeared the first time I loaded Slimjet after I had donated $10 to support Slimjet. I suppose this further validates the saying, "No good deed goes unpunished." :cautious:

    ==>QUESTION: Is there any way to get rid of that EBAY icon? If not, Slimjet is history! :mad:

    @mood -- thanks to the nth for the info. I had overlooked the "Customize Toolbar" item among Slimjet's settings. I'm still rather new to Chrome-family browsers.

    Now that I know I have a CHOICE to keep the icon or delete it, I shall leave it there -- I visit EBAY a lot & I do want to support Slimjet.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    For several weeks I have searched for a browser that: (1) can handle as many as 12-15 open tabs without overloading my aging laptop's memory capacity, and (2) has plenty PLENTY zip!
    I have tried Google, then Iron, then Iridium, then Bravo, then Kinza, then Slimjet -- all 6 are based on the Blink engine. To date, Slimjet meets both conditions (handles many open tabs & zips along) better than any browser I have tried to date. HOWEVER, if you know a better one, please PM its name to me. PLEASE!
    i've been testing different browsers lately (esp. ones that are also available as portable) and tried almost every browser in the market. i thought slimjet was slimbrowser's successor which was based on trident engine, so i never bothered to try it. but after reading your post, i had a look at it and found out it is based on blink engine. i gave it a shot and i must say it's the lightest among all i tested. so, in reply to your question, i doubt that you can find a lighter browser for your old laptop. it's very customizable, has a very small memory footprint and a very low cpu usage. the only con for me is its ui. it looks as if it's one of those rogue security software. so it's not a keeper for me. but thank you for bringing it to our notice. :thumb:
    The outfit that makes Slimjet has been around a very long time, besides which it's located in Texas -- I say, TEXAS! Back in the hills where I was birthed, don't nobody talk stink 'bout Texas and -- Hey, how 'bout them Cowboys! guffaw guffaw :p:argh::D
    if there's one thing i know about texas it's that you don't mess with texas. :thumb:
    joking aside, i know that they're from austin, tx. but that doesn't change the fact that their browser looks as if it was designed by some chinese sweatshop. :argh:
