Yep, I triple what they said. The couple of things mentioned like the 24hr update, pretty high memory usage and ARP security freeze running a LAN game. I really like this security suite.

May be the game uses the address resolution protocol and this gets blocked. Unless you have non-trusted PC on your internal LAN you don't need ARP protection.

You're exactly right! It's really not needed within my LAN.
    thanks

The option can be useful if you are on public networks (WIFI) or hardwiring your PC/Laptop on untrusted networks. Unfortunately it is an ON/OFF feature. You can't tune it up depending on the network you connect to.

But why do that if AV can do that properly all by itself?

Well at least acquire an "ZoneAlarm Distribucija" and a "Bitdefender cloud Distribucija" so he has a traditional antivirus (ZA) an intermediate AV (Avast) with 4 hourly + trickle updates and a full featured cloud based AV (BD).

Good Evening ! Finally was able to download and set up the free beta anti-virus and firewall. This in my humble estimation will be a Serious Competitor for Avast and MSE. The only quibble from my perspective is the updater...24hrs as RejZor stated simply doesn't cut the mustard. But I hope that will be addressed in the Release Version. Otherwise a very impressive effort on behalf of Zone Alarm/Checkpoint. Sincerely...Securon

I am regularly testing & comparing it with other free AV's. Its good. Waiting for the RiskWare detection to be included to see what difference in detection it will bring.

Is the heuristics kaspersky's or zonealarm's? Coz I see quite a good heur detection.

I really hope the updates way are changed in the coming beta's.

Atleast I am not going to use it with the current updates way. As I have seen the difference during my testing by updating it manually time to time & testing & checking the differences.

Anyone has any idea how ZoneAlarm AV updates its program components? Through integrated updater or do you have to do it like with Kaspersky, downloading entire installer and installing over it?

Normally by a new installer for the core parts of the software (e.g. new drivers), while via the autoupdate you can get minor or urgent updates, such as compatibility fixes, out of band critical fixes, ZA definition or dlls updates, etc.

In short, the most common update happens like kaspersky. I.e. New installer to run over the old.

Yes, should be the same as in ZAfree. Both elements are available in ZAfree :)

What's the difference between the application control and the advanced firewall? They seem to use similar language in their description. I thought they might be the same and did not see "advanced firewall" in the ZA free version, just the 2-way firewall.

Does this free beta program include the advanced firewall? or the same firewall as in the free version?
