it will be uploaded on 1st september (in 5 days). the report is only half finished so far. anyway, the results will be quite surprising, for some it will be 'shocking' if they have difficulties to understand that detection rates of some products can improve or get worser, and yes, they differ in some parts from the results of other testers.
btw, the majority will most probably get advanced+ this time. 2 will probably get advanced and the rest standard.

I wonder if Avira Antivir will stay near or on the top? I finally quit using the free version and I have been enjoying the paid version so far. I know it did very well with the AV-Test.org test. Crosses fingers. Don't behave like the Chicago Cubs. :D Always on top or down.

With Avira you need not worry when it comes to detection.

Exiting to see what changed then. I think that the regular will get advance + but that Onecare for example will go for a hugh improvement as well. They will priobably be the big surprise

But why will the results be "shocking"? I only have negative connotations with that word .. so some program must really have decreased in perfomance?! Wonder which that could be..

    Hello IBK,

Thanks for your reply. If anyone would know whether it is an AV, then it would be experts like yourself...

However, whether it is an AV or not, if the company claims that it is an av, then it would be of interest to put it through the paces as such. The company's support says also that the product was designed primarily as a stand-alone product. Thus, before I would risk using it as such, I would like to see proof of its claimed ability to be able to replace a traditional AV. Would testing it as such not bring clarity to the matter?

While I consider AV Comparatives tests to be one of the best, and valuable information, I suspect this update will not change my way of doing anything.

Perhaps this is because I don't view a difference of a couple of percentage points among the detection rates of av's to be controlling.

The game for malware writers today is the zero day attack, so heuristics and OS hardening are getting to be much more important.
