    Why "new" AV?
On softpedia I see "Last Updated: October 14th, 2009"

Sounds like it's from Indonesia ?

    License: Freeware = Nice

Requirements: NET Framework = Not good

    http://antivirus.inf.uajy.ac.id

Wow 4 of the better ones, and free

    Size: 731 KB = With 4 AV's ?

    http://www.downloads2k.com/Gucup-Antivirus.html

Only 740 antivirus and malware signatures with 4 AV's, i'd expect shedloads with just one

Not sure what's going on with this, doesn't make a lot of sense ?

The way I read it was that the Download2k team scanned Gucup AV with the 4 mentioned AV engines in order to give it their 100% clean award, not that Gucup itself contains those engines.

    "Dear Developer,

Your application, Gucup Antivirus was downloaded and tested by Downloads2k.com on 18th of January 2010 using our combined security module and was found completely clean. Our security module uses 4 different antivirus components: Kaspersky AV, BitDefender, NOD32 and Avira Antivirus."

Personally I find it hard to use any AV with a GUI that looks like this one :D .

Looks like a crack/keygen. Is it a cloud scanner like hitman pro?

I could not have agreed more. The design looks amateurish... Frankly I think it is a rogue.

    Thanks.

Maybe the design not good but it isnt rogue AV :D . Im from Indonesia.
In Indonesia there are several local AV (SMADAV,ANSAV,PCMAV,AVI,GUCUP,etc) developed especially for local malware like brontok, etc. Gucup AV isnt the famous one.

People here mostly use SMADAV for local malware. there are also AV developed by local computer magazine named PCMAV (from PC Media magazine) and AVI (Antivirus InfoKomputer - from InfoKomputer magazine).
