What i love about this application is that it is so light. The impact on system performance is virtually zero. Tested with AppTimer too. But it's even the feeling of working inside windows explorer. I 've been going back and forth all the time between Comodo and this one and i can't help myself feeling the difference in speed when browsing folders. With ERP it's so much lighter, you can feel the speed.

It may not cover as much as Comodo, but it's useful against drive-by infections and USB infections. And has the advantage that you can use it with much more configurations, since it doesn't force you to install a firewall too, like Comodo does and probably is less prone to conflicts.

I 'd say ERP is a bit like the WinPatrol of classical HIPS. It's small, light and versatile, perfect to accompany any setup that doesn't need full blown HIPS. It does what its name says. It stops PE files and that's it. It's not bloatware.

They haven't fixed the free version yet. It still crashes system when you go between accounts.

Just bougth the pro and downloaded ver 2.7.1 FINAL4.

Haven't installed it yet because I understood it as ver 2.7.2 was around the
corner. Anything new about this new version and how will it be delivered?
    Thanks.

That's probably because they 're thinking of substituting the free version with a fully featured trial version of the Pro.

    Hello,

I think that I have found a small bug. It has to do with disabling protection by right clicking of the tray icon. I have mine set in settings that when disabled, automatically re-enable in 10 minutes. Now I do the right click of tray icon, protection, and unchecked enable. Protection is disabled and all is as should be. Now say after 5 minutes I re-enable protection (remember my 10 minute setting). % minutes from this point (10 minutes total) protection instead of still being enabled, is disabled again at this point. So you see the bug is if I re-enable disabled protection before the time set to automatically re-enable, that the timer keeps running but does opposite of what it should, it disables again at the set time interval. If I wait another time interval (in this case 10 more minutes) and do not re-enable, it will automatically do so. This will keep going until I do not re-enable myself, but let it happen automatically.

    Thanks...

    Confirmed.
    Nice catch, puff!

BTW, I found work around for this problem (but nvt still has to fix it anyway):
Turn on "Password Protect Disabling of Protection".
You will receive pop-up to enter password and you can just click on "Cancel".
After that, it will remain enabled.
    ;)

    Possible bug!

"Password Protect Disabling of Protection" option is enabled.
Right click on tray icon->Protection->uncheck Enabled shows a popup to enter password. Fine!

Open ERP GUI and click on Protection status=Enabled under "Status" tab.
Protection is disabled without popup for password!

It needs to be fixed to properly show password popup before getting disabled.
    ;)

Thanks for the great feedbacks :)

    @puff-m-d, @siketa

I could reproduce the problems and they both are already fixed in v2.7.2, thanks again for reporting the bugs.

Working on the fix regarding the issue reported by Antarctica.

how does this compare to appguard? I own AG and like it and have cash to spare if I like the free version but as far as feature goes does either hold anything over the other really? for people who used them.

    thanks

I may try this out again once there is a new version.

I have used both and these are my impressions that made me choose ERP:
    1) ERP has better GUI (cleaner and it's nice although not "super modern")
    2) ERP is more user friendly (no confusing settings and compatibility problems)
    3) ERP also has Lockdown mode (great security)
    4) You can password protect critical settings (is that available in AG?)
    5) It is also available for x86/x64 Windows, etc.

Internal updater is on to-do list (I think AG has it, at least it informs you about it).....

Granted ERP is probably more user friendly, particularly to newbies but AG has made great strides in this area.

Further, AG has a "Locked Down" mode and will run on both 32/64-bit Windows.

As both have great support here at Wilders, either one would be a good choice in a layered defense system.

I know that AG has those two features, that's why I put "also" word there...
    ;)

They both come with lifetime license, low system resources' consumption and fantastic support.
The best way to find which one suites your needs is to try them both.

I'm sure nvt is working on it...

Personally, I'm skipping this smartphone version...
What is wrong with Windows 7?
    :)
