BTW, something that I have always wondered about is if movies producers can simply refuse to sell licenses to Netflix? I would like to see a bit more "fresh" movies on Netflix, see links. I'm a big movies fan, but I don't go to the cinema that much, I prefer watching movies at home. So I'd rather see Netflix spending millions on getting these licenses, instead of producing crap.

Millions of Netflix users are using someone else’s password, but that’s not bad for Netflix

The streaming service says it has at least 139 million paid subscribers around the world. But there are decent odds that many more people are watching Netflix and letting someone else pay for it.

A new survey from analysts MoffettNathanson finds that 14 percent of US Netflix users admit that they’re watching the service using an account paid for by someone they don’t live with. That is, they’re watching Netflix even though they’re not technically supposed to be watching Netflix.
As analyst Michael Nathanson points out, Netflix (which has not gone out of its way — at all — to stop password sharers) can view this as a half-empty/half-full situation.

On the plus side, he figures Netflix non-payers currently represent some 8 million users who could eventually be persuaded to pay for Triple Frontier and other Netflix content. On the other hand, if those non-payers never end up paying, they end up reducing Netflix’s growth prospects.

For years, we’ve heard that the pay TV industry is getting serious about the problem of password sharing.

Tom Rutledge, the chairman and CEO of cable company Charter Communications, has made a point of speaking out against sharing TV app logins with friends and relatives since at least 2015. He’s also been encouraging TV networks to work harder on stopping it.
But in talking to TV networks and other industry players, it’s clear that a major crackdown isn’t imminent. The TV business remains divided on whether password sharing is a serious problem, and even the players that want to fight it aren’t eager to apply draconian countermeasures.

Meanwhile, experts say that new methods of enforcement against password sharing are still at least a year or two away, and when they finally arrive, they’ll be a lot subtler than you might expect.

As long as you have a working Netflix login, you should have no problem streaming movies and TV series even if you’re not technically paying for it. Netflix has always been aware of password sharing and has never seemed to mind.
There’s no reason to panic for the time being, as Netflix didn’t announce any new measures to prevent account sharing, and the company is looking at “consumer-friendly” ways to address the issue.

Netflix tackled the matter during its third-quarter earnings call, MobileSyrup notes, when Guggenheim Securities analyst Michael Morris asked about password sharing

Netflix CFO Spencer Neumann said the company is continuing to monitor it for now. “We’re looking at the situation, and we’ll [look for] those consumer-friendly ways to push on the edges of that.” The exec added that Netflix has “no big plans to announce at this time in terms of doing something different” with password sharing for the time being.

I have got no problems with this, Netflix is losing way to much money because of this. Can't this be fixed for the most part by limiting the amount of streams per account?
