Hopefully someone here can help me. I am trying to make a few copies of a DVD but it keeps failing (homemade, it's of a TV show that's not released on DVD so it's not security issues - I had taped it back in 2000 but my VHS tape is getting old so a friend put it on DVD for me, and now I want to make some copies of it for backup).

Now I was able to copy it once, but now for some reason I keep getting the same error about halfway to the end of the burning process. It's getting frustrating as I've gone through 22 DVD-Rs and I'm not made out of money. Please help (and thanks in advance)...I attached the log below:

The original. I'm doing everything that I did the time before. What I did the first time was copy the VIDEO_TS folder (the only folder the original had), and save it to my HD. Then I opened up Nero StartSmart (6) and went to the Video/Photos option, and DVD-Video one. Put the blank DVD-R in and burn. It fails near 75-99% now, however even though it failed, I put the burned copy in and it seems to work fine on the computer so far. I don't know about a DVD Player though. Just wondering why it fails near the end.

Don't use Nero bloatware, try DVDFabPlatinum, it copies to your hard disk first before writing to DVD.

Also, use a DVD-RW to try first to avoid creating coasters:D

Tried using that program, got the same thing happen to me. I tried another program my friend suggested, and it gave me a hardware error. Does anyone know what to do (in terms of the hardware error)? It was working fine the other day. o_O

The drive? How can I do that?

If you mean the actual DVD-R, I keep using new ones each time.

what brand of media are u using,it happen freqently that switching media brand solve the burning problem, one good to go is Verbatum, for me i ditched Philips and TDK for Verbatum and it solved my burning problems.

Admit that yours is maybe a different cause but at least you can try.

    Hi Scorpio,

I'm no expert but a few observation's stand out:

    • Dated firmware - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2244
*Investigate carefully the process of upgrading should that be the course you take.
    • The upgrade shown in the wine emulator will specify whether it's applicable.

      uj-841_fw.png

    • Memories too high. Disable cpu eater's prior to burning.
    • Though your disk's are recognized, consider more appropriate media.
_oogle these code's for a suggested drive/media compatibility chart. ;)
    • The ratio of used vs available free space on your drive?

    • Does nero's info tool confirm your drive can handle the write speed?

    • Check your event log's. Are any listing drive related error's?

    • Make certain all physical connection's are secure.
