    I've read a few of Fly's post and I have to admit that this guy is just a narrow-minded user. Don't argue with him, you've done nothing wrong ;)

    Why would an AV company choose the name of a recent well-known fake AV rogueo_O?

    Unfortunately there was a rogue by the same/very similar name a while back.

    Google "NANO AntiVirus" or see Bleeping Computer.

    Well there are two VIRUSfighters too, one is from SPAMfighter, the other is a rogue.

    Some rogue removal sites even suggest blocking http://www.spamfighter.com/ url :D

    @user "nanoav"
    1- What exactly does System Guard do?

    2- Please provide more information as to Nano's heuristics, behavior blocker, or other provisions for detecting/preventing zero-day malware.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I gave Nano AV a short trial. It does NOT require a restart during installation. Therefore I was able to trial it in Shadow Mode, using Shadow Defender.
    It's a 37.5MB download. At only 102-106 KB/sec, the download took several minutes.
    Install was relatively slow, too. The install thermometer quickly moved to about 75% but then slowed or hung & took about 3+ minutes to finish the install job.
    The updater works good, & is very informative as to progress & what is being downloaded.
    Main GUI (before I did the update) . . .
    Nano has only one process listed. Process Explorer info re that process, shortly after installing Nano . . .
    ScrHunt01 15-Aug-10.gif
    ScrHunt02 15-Aug-10.gif
    Nano's System Guard didn't work. Perhaps that was because I was in Shadow Mode, but all other antivirus programs run just fine in Shadow Mode. In any event, I did send the logs to the Nano folks.
    Man, give'm a break, the sun shines for everybody.
    At the end of the day, if you don't like it or if you aren't into it just leave this thread and post on any of the other hundreds of threads that are open @ Wilders. If the posted it on this board maybe it's because the site is all about computer security.
    I was impressed with Nano last time I tested it few days ago. It detected many of the threats in my set of malwares although I have published the hashlists of those malwares already. So i did not update the results in the main list. The removal process and installation process is a bit lengthy and also it consumes a bit many RAM, but did not slow down my VM with ~700Mb RAM. I am hoping to get a good AV in future.
    Your assumption is incorrect. We have registered our trade name before the appearance of that fake AV. Really we have many problems with this upsetting name coincidence. But now I guess the main part of problems is behind. Russian searchers (and google.ru too) almost don't offer links to any info about that fake AV:)
    Thank you for the trial of our program.
    As for your questions:
    1. The System Guard provides a real-time protection from any kinds of malware.
    2. After the final release we are going to take part in VB100. So we will have official results. As for the present the VB100 team has tested our program, but we can't publish results as they are unofficial.
    Yes, your assumption is correct.
    We have placed today the update to 0.12.0.2 Beta.
    New in this version:
    1. Fixed an error of the scanning of some pst-files (scanning process didn't come to an end and stopped on 99 %).
    2. Fixed an error of memory scanning which occurred if there were installed drivers of old versions of StarForce.
    3. Added the support of installation of NANO AntiVirus on systems with Internet Explorer 9 Beta.
    4. Enhanced the detection of Sality.ag virus family.
    5. Added some changes to the process of a license receipt and quarantine's files sending when proxy server is using.
    6. Fixed some errors of the nanoreport utility.
    7. Fixed an error of adding files in the quarantine if the file's path is putted in quotes.
    8. Fixed a great number of slight errors.
    Also you can find the news about new versions and updates on our site. Follow us on Twitter where we publish our news and actual information about new versions.
    I see above that Nano uses its own scanning engine. Does it develop its own signatures as well? Also, any heuristics, generic sigs, etc? Has the system shield been tested against malware and has anyone run actross any conflicts?
