If you could only choose 2 applications of software to protect you, that you feel would get you as close to 100 percent protection, what would they be.

You can not include any imaging or roll-back softwares.

    Sandboxie (Paid) & Defensewall.

I added Defensewall based on feedback from others in this forum. I do not currently use it but will probably give it a try in the coming months.

I would choose what I am using right now and what has served my well for the past year: DefenseWall and Outpost Pro.

    1) a decent operating system
    2) my brain

But I guess that isn't the kind of answer that this thread is looking for. :D Still, that's what I'd choose. And do.

    DefenseWall for every day usage

I would upload any new programs to install which I had not bought, but downloaded from a trusted source to Virus Total

So that is one application and one service :p

    A bucket and a mop.

    No, just kidding.
I can't answer this question because I think you need 3.
    A bucket, a mop and a cleanser.

    Cheers

    This is pretty easy :

    a) any reliable HIPS (comodo, OA, outpost, etc...)

    +

    b) any reliable sandboxing application (sandboxie, geswall, defensewall, etc....)

No, I never voted. For me right now,

    Microsoft Security Essentials
    Sandboxie

Pretty bullet proof and hardly any cost to the consumer.
Of course I use a hardened rooter.
