I have a problem. My desktop has internet links to homepages everytime I cut on my computer. At first it started out as second thoughts that just popped up out of no where. And I just recently deleted http://tooncomics.com/main/b2.php off my computer but it continues tosave it self and other sites as favorites and my IE hompage

    I used Pest Patrol

    Hi Mourn4u,

    Welcome to Wilders!

You have a couple viruses here so you will want to do an online scan of your system but first please download and run CWSearch from here

    http://www.merijn.org/files/cwshredder.zip

After letting it run its course, do a reboot and then (making sure all other apps and windows are closed) select and fix the following within HijackThis (some items will likely have been removed by CWShredder by this time)

    O2 - BHO: . - {587DBF2D-9145-4c9e-92C2-1F953DA73773} - C:\Documents and Settings\Jennifer\Application Data\iefeatsl\iefeatsl.dll (disabled by BHODemon)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Soundmx] \soundmx.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Online Service] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys] regedit -s sys.reg
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsSystem] c:\mssys.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINSTA~1.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\System\WINSTA~1.EXE -b
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [slmss] C:\Program Files\Common Files\slmss\slmss.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [iedll] C:\WINDOWS\iedll.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [loader] C:\WINDOWS\loader.exe
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\inetadpt.dll
    O16 - DPF: {1D2DCA0D-B30F-40AD-9690-087105F214EC} - http://usa-download.nocreditcard.com/download/Object/DialerHTML/ieaccess3XP.cab
    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/0729bf487a73447a9721/netzip/RdxIE6.cab
    O16 - DPF: {9F1C11AA-197B-4942-BA54-47A8489BB47F} (Update Class) -
    O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINDOWS\Web\win.def (file missing)

    Then after another reboot, please delete the following;

    C:\Documents and Settings\Jennifer\Application Data\iefeatsl\iefeatsl.dll

C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe <-- make sure it is not the one in system32

    c:\mssys.exe

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\slmss <-- entire folder

    C:\WINDOWS\iedll.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\loader.exe

Then please rescan and post a fresh log so we can be sure we got everything.

And remember to do an online virus scan such as the one on Panda's site (or any other that you prefer)

Links to an assortment of these is available here

    http://www.wilders.org/free_services.htm

    Hope this helps,

    Dan

    Hi Mourn4u,

For some reason HijackThis is hardly ever capable of getting rid of inetadpt.dll
After following Dan´s instructions, check if it did. If not, use LSPfix to remove inetadpt.dll and only that one from your winsock.

    Regards,

    Pieter

My MSN wouldn't sign in so I thought that something may have been deleted so I installed MSN 8 but now it gives me a message telling me to download MSN Messenger 6.1 again which I did. And also I purchased Norton on the web b/c my supscription expired but everytime I try to install I get an error message saying that it could not be completed and someyhing about my installer.

    Hi Mourn4u,

    First follow instructions here: http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957.

Then follow the instructions on how to use AdAWare and Spybot S&D as posted here:
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

Then please post a new log.
Sorry we have to do this the other way around, but your last log looks just as bad as the one we started out with. We need to crank up your security settings and protection to make this worth your while.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Mourn4u, you have another CWS hijacker.

Download CWShredder from the link below then unzip and run it with all browser windows closed.
Click on Next to have it remove all it finds.
    http://www.merijn.org/files/cwshredder.zip

Insure you have all Windows Critical Updates installed.
In IE go to Tools then Windows Updates and download each patch separately rebooting when necessary.

Read the link below to have a safer Internet experience in 2004.
I recommend IE-SPYAD and SpywareBlaster available in this link.

    Just guessing. ;)

Apart from CWS as yokenny stated. I can see at least two infections that look like viruses or trojans, so I would advise to take one of the online scans as listed here:
    http://www.wilders.org/free_services.htm

Please post a new log when you are done.

    Regards,
