Yeah I paid for the upgrade. Not going to hassle Acronis for it back. But the one reason to be able to backup files is what I wanted, and although the backup works the verify fails (every time) so I can not trust it (Plus you cannot mount it). I will continue to try when new updates come out but for now I shelling out the extra bucks for Ghost and going to give it try. Yeah its more but the peace of mind for good backups is worth it. Between the two I should be able to get images and file backups. I will let you know how it goes I might be making another $39 mistake after rebates but I got to know who is the best. I loved version 8 but no file level backups (and still not for me in TI9). Sorry Acronis I think you went to fast to market with this version. I await your response and good luck.

There are lots of negative postings on v9. I will tell you what I learned from my experience. The lastest version of TI v9 works just fine. I have no problem with backing up, verifying and restoring. The only problem with TI v9 is that it took 2 hrs for the restoration. With v8, it takes about 13 min. I have no complaint against True Image.

My point is that you should not advertise your own negative experience. I believe that your problem has nothing to do with TI v.9 but your computer. You sound very pity just for $29.99. Instead, we should encourage Acronis to come up with a better version ASAP. TO ME, Acronis TI is a miracle program. During the Thanksgiving holiday, I had a problem with "nv4_disp" error. TI backup tib made my day! TI v.8 saved tons of my pains and time in the past. I am a happy customer and I have nothing to with Acronis. Sarutaro

That has be be one of the biggest loads of tripe that I have read on this forum.

There are plenty of people who have posted plenty of different problems with ver9 on this very forum.

The OP paid for a product & everyone has the right to expect a paid for "backup solution" to work & work well.

The distributor here in Qld, Aust even admitted that Acronis rushed ver9 to market just to beat the impending release of "Ghost".

Well they botched it & released a product that was full of bugs & still is.

So please don't attack the OP with "My point is that you should not advertise your own negative experience" - of course he/she is allowed to post their personal experience - whether that be positive or negative.

There is no way that I would trust "mission critical" business backups to ver9 at this stage. Apart from anything else it is ridiculous (since DVD burners have been out for so long) that Acronis STILL can't burn directly to DVD.

And for the record I own legal registered copies of both Acronis TI ver8 & ver9. I use only ver8 at this point & will continue to do so until ver9 is fixed & fixed properly.

 Oh, gaaaawd ! Here come the experience police !

Give me a break ! --- and playivorys too while you're at it. The moderators do a perfectly good job of cleaning up on the advertisement posts. Thanks but no thanks, sarutaro !

Thank you for sharing your experience with us playivorys. Like you, I paid for an upgrade to TI 9 and I am extremely disappointed that it's not fixed yet.

    Hey,
Sorry if I came over negative I am not abandoning Acronis I still use there products but I wish I read these forums before I did the upgrade I would have waitied. I assumed that since 8 worked great on my machine (no hardware/software changes) that TI9 (bld 2302) would too. I am saying do not assume that. I have upgraded less than 30 days ago but I am not trying to get my money back I just want a product that works. I posted problems and logs not even a sound from Acronis. So I am out to prove its not my machine. Thanks for the Staples Rebate I aquired Ghost 10.0 (All I installed from the system works pkg) for free. I am going to test with that in the meantime if Acronis fixes (I take they are beta some new changes because I see post about build numbers not on there site) I will test it also. And I will use what works the best. I wish TI9 the best of success and will continue to monitor the updates.

Of course, everybody likes to learn other people's experience. But the title of the thread did not mean to share his experience but mean to attack or humilate Acronis. I wish that this forum should be forcused on more constructive, intellecutal disccussion rather than cheap shots. We all love to learn something. BTW, is a sum of $29.99 a big deal? Sarutaro

In a support forum, where is the value in someone saying "I use it and it works fine."

Everbody who actually uses TI9 to do something productive knows it has major flaws which Acronis acknowledges.

$29.99 is a big deal to most normal people, especially when they believe they have been misled or duped into paying $29.99 for something that may be worthless.

TI9 is dysfunctional for most users at any price. Those of us who use it know this. Those of us who also own TI8 have an interim solution while Acronis tries to make TI9 usable.

    ;)

Oh, gee ! I never thought of that, sarutaro ! "My $29.99 experence" is certainly a vile and humiliating title for a thread ! Please pardon me !:ninja:

Of course, I agree with the more rational portion of your post in that we should be learning here (as a form of support) and that more constructive discussion is better -- who's to say a negative comment (not necessarily a personal attack) is NOT constructive if it prevents an error in judgment ? -- the comment police ?

Unfortunately, the free exchange of ideas and other forms of intellectual pursuit can often be hampered by those who prefer we walk on eggshells and dare not offend anyone.

Simply put, Acronis has a really great product in True Image -- when it's working. Right now, however, it's terribly broken and I think we owe it to ourselves to be honest about that. If I can't be, where is the support ?

    bobdat -

You state "In a support forum, where is the value in someone saying "I use it and it works fine."

then state "TI9 is dysfunctional for most users at any price"

I bought 8.0 just before 9.0 came out (on purpose), and just last week, got my free upgrade to v 2302, which appears to work great for me. I certainly agree that for some users, there are major problems, however have no way of knowing if its 5% of the people, or 75% of the people, and you also have no way of knowing. That is the value of posting on the forum if everything works fine - it gives everyone some idea how wide spread the problems are.

I love it when somebody takes my comments out of context to distort their meaning. o_O Here's the original quote I was referring to:

Sarahtaro - "There are lots of negative postings on v9. I believe that your problem has nothing to do with TI v.9 but your computer."

What does Sarahtaro's post provide in the way of support? Nothing. Instead, it is derogatory to users who have experienced problems with TI9 and blames those problems on their ignorance and not TrueImage 9. That's ridiculous and all evidence proves it.

That's the post I was referring to - in context.

    I fully agree with arf1410.

bobdat is just twisting my words. How come you came up with a word "derogatory"? Read my other postings. It seems that you simply enjoy by throwing flames. As many people agreed, V8 is a great program. Somehow along the line in the course of the improvement of v8, there were some bugs in v9. I believe that Acronis is not a fly-by-night company and that they are trying to fix v9 as soon as possble. I also believe that they did not intend to defraud us just for $29.99. If you don't agree, you need some help. We all make subtle mistakes. We should be more patient and a little more generous to Acronis. Sarutaro.

Sounds like some cats fighting in this thread...

    (1) Acronis True Image 9 is absolutely wonderful. About a year ago, I bought some backup software that had very good reports. I found it an absolute pain. A backup of 60GB of data (to a hard drive) was an afternoon's work. It used over 720MB of RAM to do this job. I only had 512M, so the program just crawled. One day, I decided to tweak the settings a little, to try to make it less sluggish. On the next backup, it faithfully backed up all the top level files and directories - but NOTHING ELSE!!!!

    (2) Acronis True Image 9 is terrible. I don't feel I need to repeat the postings on this forum. I am eagerly awaiting the next release, in the hope that it will be much better. It's been a long wait... TI9 was certainly rushed out too soon. Definitely. I really hope that this does not become a habit.

    (3) I use True Image 9 almost every day. (I do have the old version 8, but I have never bothered to revert to it.)

    (4) I didn't pay for an upgrade. I didn't know that TI9 was about to be released when I bought TI8, and Acronis gave me a free upgrade. Or downgrade, depending on your point of view.

    (5) I reckon that the most important attribute of backup software is that it is reliable. Not that it always does its job, but more importantly that you know whether it did or not. If it claims to have done the job, then it SHOULD have done the job. If it crashes, then at least you do know that it failed.

    (6) If you feel aggrieved about a product, tell us why, rather than just complain. If you think the product is great, tell us how you use it, what you expect it to do.

    (7) TI9 does a grand job for me. It has got me out of trouble several times in the last few months. It has given me the courage to try things that I would never have dared try in the past, fearing total destruction of all data.

( But TI9, for me, has the big problem that I can not yet rely on it to run automatically, without my being there to make sure. If it worked according to its specifications, it would be a brilliant piece of software.

    (9) If the day ever came when everything in life was totally perfect, would we not soon be bored? Well, I would not mind being bored by some software that quietly went about its business without bothering me.

Personally, I don't feel I need to spend or waste $29-99 to have a good whinge. I can do this for free, too!

Have a nice day, you guys.

    Shraddhan
