    RAGTIME DEFINITION
Several attempts have been made to define Ragtime as a descriptive noun or pronoun, and occasionally as a verb. Actually, the definitions are pretty broad, and it is more likely that the compendium of information contained on this page may provide a more comprehensive grasp of what the definition actually entails. Most reference sources use something along this line, which is similar to what Trebor Tichenor and Dave Jasen included in Rags and Ragtime:

    ragtime n (râg-tím)

A form of ethnic piano music from the early 20th century that is indigenous to the United States, and is characterized by a syncopated melody over a steady bass and chord line constituting a duple rhythm (two or a multiple of two beats per measure).
As in Piano Ragtime, which is a genre of syncopated music based on a march form that usually consists of three or four repeated distinct sixteen measure sections in a tonic and subdominant keys in the sectional form of A A B B A C C D D or a variation thereof.
A genre of popular music based on marches and Afro-American rhythms that was prevalent in the early 20th century.

I agree Ron. Rap is slowly disintegrating; I mean come on, when do you hear some good new RAP songs? o_O Eminem isn't bad, but where did Dr. Dre go, and where's 50 Cent nowadays? o_O

I think without music http://img182.exs.cx/img182/3607/musicsmiley0186cw.gif in my life, the world would stay still.

I am into Everything ....not really any favorites, because there are just too many.

Exotic music is also something I like. Turkish, Salsa (especially the dance  ) Oooh, and I absolutely adore the 'Flamenco" ~
The spanish guitar makes my blood boil !! http://img182.exs.cx/img182/7749/lovesongserenade2ya.gif

( I admire people who can play guitar - actually wanting to learn myself - just need to find me a nice teacher. ;) :D )

I had the pleasure of seeing the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in New Orleans a few years ago. Nobody was younger than seventy in that band.

    Sweet music.
