In TI 8.0 (purchased in July), I want to back up my C, E, and F partitions (not D) to three separate files on an external hard disk. I understand this is three backup uperations, but how do I set these up as one job so that I can start the job and walk away from my computer?

I know it can be done, because after going through the Wizard and commit pending operations I see my job is "operation 1 of 1" and there are separate progress bars for this operation and the whole job. Obviously therefore it's possible to gang together multiple operations in one job, but I can't find anything in the manual that helps me.

How do I set this up?

(This is not an issue of scheduling jobs. I don't want to run this backup at a specified time each day; I want to run it when I finish working each day, and that time varies from one day to the next.)

    Hello Stan,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

I'm afraid that it can not be done in the way you have described.

Only one imaging operation can be started using Create Image wizard and only one image archive will be created in any case. To create another image you will need to start another imaging operation.

In my opinion the most convenient way for you will be to create a three scheduled tasks for the image creation. Since the time for the backup creation varies, I would recommend you to create a new tasks each day. You can set the periodicity to the "one time only" for these tasks.

Please read more on how to schedule a task in chapter 9 of Acronis True Image 8.0 User's Guide.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

Thank you for the reply, but I have to say I'm disappointed.

Creating three scheduled tasks each day seems like an awful lot of work for a job that ought to be easy to automate.

A follow-up question: when I start a backup, why are there TWO progress bars, one for current operation and one for the overall job? If it is not possible to have a job consist of more than one operation, what is the purpose of two progress bars?
