My brother is having troubles getting onto MSN Messenger using his work computer. He says it is because of the firewall, perhaps blocking some ports. He tried MSN web Messenger and that seems to work fine, but he doesn’t want to use MSN web messenger, so what do you guys recommends he does? Just install an older version of MSN Messenger? Or perhaps use one of those Multi protocol IM clients? He needs some suggestions, please help out.

    What firewall?

I'm think that if Msn Messenger is used as a chat client then it needs "server rights" - meaning the ability to passively listen on a port.

Perhaps it is blocked at the firewall for a reason. Does his work have any policy in regards to the use chat programs? Has he asked the IT staff about it?
