That is why i am using Defenswall.
Antiviruses had a good time, but with the growth of malware everyday it is simple mathematics to see when they must fail.
A HIPS is great but the classical ones are far too noisy for me, and i have to admit i don t know enough about programs to do the right decision (permit, block,...)
With the policy based HIPS aproach by Defensewall i have all i need. A trustworthy solid program with fast updates. I just need a antivirus for fun to see what Defenswall has stopped. And with the Rollback function it is so easy to clean things out.
So with that you don t have to care of variants of TDSS or trojan ransom, it is simply stopped thats all.
However under these conditions the results of Malwarebytes and Emsisoft are great.

Best classic antiviruses: ESET and Kaspersky good (39), Norton better (47), VIPRE best (50) and Emsisoft outstanding (60).

Do classic AV's still exist? As far as I know those are history.
I wouldn't name EAM a "classic" one and yes a nice result.

Yes sorry, wrong word choice. Using simply the word antivirus would have been enough. The only reason for using classic was to out rule Prevx of the comparison.

Looks like defenseWall protects the system by assuming some conditions.
In my case, i would prefer detection, or prevention at least.

You see where detection gets you in their test. I'll stay with DefenseWall. :thumb:

Defensewall is prevention. That's the point.

DefenseWall is prevention based on some conditions
that's why this is so silent compared to other IPS: it just asks when something is not subject to the policy.

And what's the problem if it works?

DefenseWall is a host intrusion prevention system that is based on a sandboxing approach that uses rights restrictions and partial virtualization.
The key word here is prevention.
With DefenseWall, my pc has never been compromised, ever.
Protection and support that is second to none in my experience.

It's a great program and Windows should really take that security model and apply it to Windows.

It is a program that gets more amazing the longer you use it. But the support is out of this world. If you buy it you know it's going to work even if your system is going to take a custom build you won't do without. I remember a post somewhere where somebody was facing tough financial times and couldn't afford to renew. He was told to p.m. the developer. No , the developer is making all the difference and windows couldn't begin to do it right. DefenseWall is the main reason 32 bit operating systems won't ever go away.:thumb:

who are u kidding, have u honestly met many people that have even heard of defensewall? people that arent in the security field lets say. Defensewall is pretty insignificant in that regard, its definitely not gunna be what influences Microsoft to continue supporting 32bit forever.

Lol, yeah, 32bit OS's will absolutely go away. I sure as hell hope they do.

And I'm quite sure that Windows could do it right. Furthermore if Windows were to do it it would (hopefully) be built into the kernel and therefor you would be moving your security into the kernel level where it belongs. Windows is also closed source so Microsoft is technically the best company to handle the job of security the operating system since they should have the insight into its vulnerabilities.

I'd love to see at least a mild form of DefenseWall that would simply restrict applications in the same way. It couldn't work quite the same way because it would bring down the usability of the OS but at least applying some of the ideas would be great.

I believe you are right it will go away in time. But it may take most of my life. The people who use their computers as tools in there business are not worried about 32 bit like the people who make computers their business. It is going to be an act of God to get most factories off of XP. Alot of real world users are going to say whats it do I can't already do, I can spend my money where it will do my business more good. Home users the same way , keep the computer and buy a camera that the pictures are good enough I don't need to edit them. Wages are not going up and real people can't afford to change things that are working. I'm glad MRG is running these tests . And DefenseWall is proving I can run my equipment out of the dark ages and safely do business online. Thanks

Especially when XP users outnumber Windows 7 almost 2 to 1. I will still be using it as it does what I need it to do. No use spending money I don't need to. No gamer here. :D

    Not sure what you mean.

Because many users don't know about things like DefenseWall. The AV companies have done a good job of convincing average joe users that is all they need.

AV's are also one of the quietest defense methods with the highest compatibility.
