Mozilla scraps extension sideloading over malware fears Installation methods will need to be updated after 10 March 2020 November 1, 2019 https://www.itpro.co.uk/network-int...raps-extension-sideloading-over-malware-fears Mozilla: Firefox to discontinue sideloaded extensions
Well, seems like a huge risk giving apps the option to invisibly install extensions that users can't even uninstall via the extensions-manager.
Yeah, I suppose. Sometimes I've wanted add-ons that weren't available through Mozilla. So I downloaded, and then did "install add-on from file". So is that "sideloading"? Maybe not, because there's no "executable application installer" involved. And if it's not, I was just confused.
An example of "sounds great in theory." Mozilla tried somethng out, the risks were too high. Good for them to have removed this capability. .
