Version 138.0.1, first offered to Release channel users on May 1, 2025

Fixed an issue which caused a blank page to be shown for Home and New Tab pages for some users. (Bug 1963537)

Added a workaround for a bug in outlook.office.com/outlook.live.com where attachment filenames are incorrectly prefixed with UTF-8 when saved. (Bug 1961710)

    Thanks stapp.

It seems like the update bug I've been seeing has finally been fixed.

Pretty sure with somewhere between 137.0, 137.0.1 or 137.0.2 I lost all of my bookmark icons. Currently on 138.0. Be upgrading to 138.0.1 later today. Any one else loose the bookmark icons?

sorry, no, no incidents here. not for my machines or linux builds in vm. (mint 22.1, debian 12, ubuntu 24)

is your used firefox from ppa slackware or from mozilla?
it might be a problem with slackware but there exist no ticket for "slackware"
maybe you find something for "favicons"
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=favicons

for those having issues with keepings settings of sidebar.
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1964270#c3

if xulstore.json has setting "sidebar-box". you may edit it with notepad++ and JSON-Format-Plugin.
Or delete the file it and start from scratch (this file only stores width/height/position of firefox windows)

Thanks for the list. The only one that stands out is three years old.

Any way, it happened again. Firefox crashed, all of the favicons that had been recreated after a visit to the site, disappeared. I'm guessing it's the result of a crash.

I build my own using the SlackBuild that come with the Slackware source so I can use the release version instead of the ESR version.

Firefox uses a lot of sqlite files to store data and often these files are the cause of problems if they are damaged for some reason. In this case, you could try replacing the favicons.sqlite, favicons.sqlite-shm, favicons.sqlite-wal files. But there is also a reason why these or some of them are damaged. You must find the reason too.
If your Firefox Profile folder is old, you could try updating the entire folder.

any entries in about:cashes for those?
if so, then please write down here the links or crash numbers. looks like
    Code:
    https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/271f01...
if no reports, thats pity, look if crash reps are disabled which is no good. enable please.

Looked in profile, nothing in crashes/events, about:crashes goes nowhere. I see no way to enable Crash Reports.

Do you mean it says "No crash reports have been submitted"?

Normally, sending crash reports can be enabled in: Settings/ Privacy & Security/ Firefox Data Collection and Use/ check the box next to Automatically send crash reports.
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/crash-report

    Edit
Above is for automatically sending crash reports, not so much for enabling crash reports to be created.
I've been searching, but I did not find a setting mentioned for simply enabling crash reports, not automatically sending them.
You could try if enabling "Automatically send crash reports" helps.

What I mean is about:crashes give me this:
    Code:
    Invalid URL
Hmm. That address doesn’t look right.
Please check that the URL is correct and try again.
Yes the only thing I can find is Settings, Privacy & Security, Firefox Data Collection and Use. I will check "Send technical and interaction data to Mozilla" and see what happens next time it crashes (not very often). I have no desire to check the other options under that "Allow personalized extension recommendations", "Install and run studies" or "Send daily usage ping to Mozilla"

about:config search for "crash" comes up with a few possibilities.

Did you make sure you didn't accidentally use about:cashes, as Brummelchen suggested?
The r was missing in that one; that was a typo.
about:cashes gives the result you quoted.
Of course, you need to use about:crashes

In that same location, just a little below the other options you mentioned, there should be the "Automatically send crash reports" option. Did you mean that option didn't show? Are you sure you've scrolled down sufficiently to see that last option?

Are you sure you didn't modify any of those preferences?
If you select "Show only modified preferences", only the modified preferences show.
