Today I upgraded my operating system from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, & now when I reinstalled Spywareblaster it WAS able to detect Mozilla. I'm a happy camper!

i had a feeling that blowing out my mozilla profile completely and
re-installing it would work, but i have so many cookie and image permissions
set up and various other preferences for mozilla, that is seems silly to go to
that extreme to get a program to work......hmmmm....i wonder if i temporarily
re-name my mozilla profile folder, re-install mozilla "clean", re-install SB3.2,
then put my mozilla profile folder back,.......it might work..... o_O

its doesn't work - if you rename your mozilla profile folder and re-install
mozilla clean then re-install sb3.2 - sb2.3 DOES recognize it.....
once you delete the newly created "clean slate" mozilla profile folder and
rename your original one back to re-gain your preferences, sb3.2
STOPS recognizing mozilla....same results for moz 1.7 and 1.8a

    thought this info might help....

anybody know what file in the moz preferences directory causes this and
what are the implications of modifying/deleting this fileo_O

    Hi
    To answer javacool
    registry.dat file is 2 ko
    Hostperm.1 file is 6 ko

Those two files are not very large and, like people that have large registry.dat and hotsperm.1 files, I have the same problem of recognition......

here is how i got it to work-----

    uninstall spyblaster

delete the mozilla registry.dat file, but don't touch anything else in your
    mozilla profile directory.

run the mozilla installer again (no need to un-install mozilla)

    install spyblaster 3.2

    it worked!

i have a very customized mozilla - multiple themes, proxy connection,
cute menus, large cookie and image permission lists, etc......deleting
that registry file didn't affect anything. all my mail, preferences, security
settings, proxies, server names, passwords, personal toolbar, etc....
were all still intact. the ONLY thing i had to do was re-apply my theme-
it reverted to classic - but all my installed themes were still available.

i know have "my" mozilla (1.8a) and spyblaster 3.2 coexisting happily. :D

I have the same exact problem. If I uninstall and reinstall SB3.1, I get the Mozilla/Firefox protection enabled - HOWEVER... the database is not up to date. When I attempt to update it, it prompts me to download and install SB3.2.

How can we enable the protection for Mozilla with SB3.2o_O

    (BTW... I have Mozilla V 0.7)

Thanks in advance for the assistance!!

Thought I would also post the fix that worked for me. I was running XP, Mozilla 1.6 with the default profile as the only profile (I had never created a new one, but just renamed the default one and customized it). My SpywareBlaster 3.1 wasn't recognizing Mozilla so I finally installed Mozilla 1.7. I also Updated to SpywareBlaster 3.2. It surprised me that it still didn't recognize the Mozilla. After reading all the threads here, I deleted Mozilla's "registry.dat" file because it was way too large (according to JC). I then reinstalled Mozilla 1.7 over itself. When Mozilla started up, I created a new profile, then closed mozilla and copied everything from my old profile folder into the new profile folder. I did NOTuninstall Spyblaster 3.2, but it now works...it recognizes Mozilla. I have all my mail, bkmarks, addys, etc in the new profile and everything works great. The problem may have been a combination of a corrupt "registry.dat" file and just having the defaut profile. Hope this is helpful to someone else because SpywareBlaster is a great program.

I hope that Javacool can come up with a fix for this - I'm hesitant to start messing around with my Mozilla install and creating new profiles that I don't need or want. How about a fix, Javacool?? Thanks in advance....

    Thanks Ray! That worked beautifully....
Now my mozilla 1.7.1 is working fine with SB 3.2

Did you have any Mozilla profiles beside the default? That may have something to do with why it worked the second time around. Thanks.

    Hi ray32
I have tried your procedure and it didn't work. No recognition of moz 1.7.1. Hope people from Javacool will fix that problem in version 3.3...! :doubt:

hi simpof - sorry it didn't work for you - it most definitely worked for me
on 2 different computers - one running moz 1.8a2 and the other moz1.7.1

---why don't you try uninstalling mozilla via add/remove programs and then
re-install it - all your prefs and "stuff" will still be there. the application data
folder doesn't get deleted when you un-install mozilla. just kill off the
registry.dat after you uninstall. maybe that will "wake up" sb3.2

i am no expert by any means - but the continuous mention on these boards
of a large registry.dat file as being bad got me wondering on how to make it
go away without losing my mozilla prefs. when i found out that mozilla will
just create it again, i backed it up, deleted it and re-installed and it all worked.
my reg.dat file was HUGE --- over 3MB as i have been using moz since the
1.1 days. i had tried EVERYTHING under the sun to get spyblast 3.2 to
recognize mozilla. the only thing that did it was killing off the old registry.dat.

Just delete the registry.dat file no need to do anything else. It's that simple.

Well, I screwed up my courage and tried the uninstall - delete registry.dat - install mozilla 1.7 - install SWB and it worked. My registry.dat was 320K - now about 2k. This still needs a fix in the next version, if not sooner, but I'm OK for now. Thanks for your help, everyone.
