am a current Acronis TrueImage (version 7, build 572) user that wants to use it or an upgrade to move my entire disk content including OS from one laptop to another (keeping the new laptop’s software intact.)

My problem is that my old laptop has a floppy drive and no CD burner, and my new laptop (IBM ThinkPad T42P) doesn’t have a floppy drive. I think I need to make bootable rescue media. If I install TI on the new machine, can I make a bootable CD there that will read the TI archive image created on the original laptop?

Do I need to upgrade TI or would another product (MigrateEasy) be better?

Not to confuse the issue, but I plan to restore the archive into a VMWare guest machine. I have been using an external USB2 drive successfully for other moves where there was a floppy drive in the target system.

    TIA.

    Hi, rpwt

    Yes it should.

That is not so easily done without BSOD, because of the difference in hardware and drivers, what is your OS.
