I own a 2-box license of ESET Security. I want to retire one box and replace it with another. I'm not sure how to do that in terms of licenses.

For a few days, I'll have 3 boxes active, as I transfer data from the old to the new, and install OSs (Windows XP and various Linux distributions) and applications. I was thinking that during the time I have 3 boxes, I'd install a trial version in the new box. Does that make sense?

When it's done, tested, and ready to be placed in operation, how do I transfer the license from the old one to the new one? Won't ESET complain if I simply enter my username and license strings in it? I was thinking ESET will see this is a third box during the next internet connection event. Am I confused?

You don't really have to "Transfer" anything.

All you have to do is make sure its not running with your username/password on more than 2 machines.

    Here is what I recommend.

Uninstall ESS from your "old" box, and install trial version to keep protected.
Install ESS on "new" box and enter your license information.

That will effectively "transfer" you license and allow all 3 systems to be protected.

Got it. Makes sense. That's what I'll do. Thanks.
