Hi,no reply as yet from Prevx so i thought i'd try here for some help.

Last night prevx edge suddenly reported 3 issues, and foolishly i gave it the
ok to clear up and reboot without checking further.
I vaguely remember one was a driver issue. Anyway after its reboot i have
no mouse arrow,no way of doing anything.
I'm already thinking this was a false positive, and now i'm stuck.
Luckily i have this old back up pc,but how can i get the mouse back without
    a pointer?
Will safe mode work, what do i look for there to track the problem down?
    Help appreciated.

Having no mouse arrow sounds like a very strange issue. Could you try reverting the files from quarantine to see if that corrects it? Booting into safemode may help here, but it may be better to use System Restore to see if that corrects it.

    Let me know your results!

Hi,yes i did wonder if i could retrieve the files from quarantine, that's
assuming i have a mouse arrow in safe mode.
Same applies to system restore. I don't even know if the wireless keyboard
works in safe mode,i won't be able to try till after the w/end.
I shall certainly report back as i need that pc working again.
    Thanks

if you have an USB mouse available you can try to plug it in, maybe your pc will recognize it as a mouse and install the driver.

At least you will have a mouse....

Decided to get straight on it tonight. No mouse arrow on safe mode, and
using keys proved impossible to investigate anything,no mouse with USB
    either.
But,praise be,i could use keys to use system restore, and now the pc is
    back up and working again.
What i did learn in safe mode was the registry setting for the mouse was
    missing,code 19 it said.
Whatever,it works again, hopefully prevx hasn't been affected by any of
    this.
    Thanks for your help!
    Geoff

There should be no problems but if Prevx picks it up again just save a scan log and post the lines from the log that show what files are being detected as bad.

    Thanks,

Just checked the scan results from 2 days ago,it was after this clean up
i had no mouse pointer. Was it a false positive or a real threat i wonder?

That is most likely a FP on a thing that poked at those registry entries, or a threat did bad things to the entry.

You might want to nudge Webroot support as they can get the whole view from the logs and see what happened fully. If it was an FP, it can be fixed quickly, if it was a bad cleanup of a legitimate threat, PrevxHelp will want to see the logs. :)
