I had a similar impression, but lack the technical expertise to validly compare them.

I do think it is interesting that Firefox didn't get site isolation until now. I posted about Chrome 77 getting it over 2 years ago.

If your definition of succeeding is that they are 2 years behind, sure.

I'm using Firefox right at this very moment, but let's not kid ourselves. Mozilla is crazy behind in most ways, especially when it comes to Android.

This is very interesting it looks almost as if in decentralizes your internet connection.

    It says in the FAQ

"when enabled the Portmaster routes all Internet connections through the Safing Privacy Network. You can easily create exceptions for apps or processes if you so desire."

Does this mean the SPN can function similarly to VPN split tunneling where for example browsers can be using the SPN while work apps or online games can connect like normal?

Looks like an interesting project, but afaik this has nothing to do with the security/sandbox of the browsers, it is off-topic and should have it's own thread.

fission was experimental for nightly and active. but i dont know for which period. i graced the work of that small team, but fission is a huge work to do and it still has bugs.

my personal thoughts. fission/site isolation make sense, also containers, chrome based extension isolation. anyhow all this makes processes exploded to unknow numbers. i dont know where this journey heads to, but what i can say that it is not always compatible to older hardware. i am able to run windows 10 on hardware that is 10-12 years old, ok, not the fastest. the huge amount of 40+ processes due extensions is not acceptable (chromium), not fission explodes processes on firefox, i have a lot more of 8 when running 600 tabs opened - without fission enabled. mixed feelings about the browser future.
