    But this is the weird thing. On Wall Street, it's considered a good thing if people are laid off, because then profits will rise, causing stocks to go up. But shouldn't we worry more about people loosing their jobs then worry about rising stockprices? The thing is, for a stock to go up, in principle you don't need to massively grow your revenue and profit, because stockprices are based on nothing but demand and supply. What I'm trying to say is, we live in a pretty sick world.

    On one hand this thread is informative and it's premise that some departments may lay off more people than the others seems reasonable. On the other hand after so many layoff news it may kind of mimic social media doom scrolling, so maybe I will share some other look at it from broader economy perspective
