Kaspersky is a good one, I liked it (and bought it) and wish I could run it but after a day or so it starts slowing the down my phone way too much. I was torn between Ikarus and BitDefender, BitDefender is it for now but if it causes any problems off it will go and Ikarus will be right back on. DrWeb was also a runner up as I really liked that one too.

USA still the best. But barely.
Wanted to explain. I use Dr. Web Lite.
There's paid, regular & lite flavors of Dr. Web.

I ditched G-Data since it said there were incompatibilities with the messaging app I use, Youni SMS. I have switched back to Appriva Privacy Maximizer, which seems to be a very nice AV. Having said that, I haven't taken to the time to look a test results to compare it with other AVs.

I have used nearly twenty different antiviruses on my Android phones, and definitively prefer this to almost all of the others.

I may purchase Kaspersky from their website. For some strange reason, its five dollars more on the Play store. Unless someone has a cheaper alternative that is just as good?

I've tried Avast and while it has a lot of features, not overly impressed. I am currently on Lookout, but its 30 dollars a year which is to much money in my opinion.

    Thoughts anyone?

I'm not sure but I think there are some differences between the one in the Android Market and the one from Kaspersky website.

Thanks, will also wait for Noob to chime in. ;)

    Cheers.

EDIT. Bit the bullet and purchased. However, during the setup, when I put in my email address, the app would force close every time? :(

That said I uninstalled it and got a refund. If anyone knows a way around this problem, I may try it again.

Has anyone heard of TrustGo Antivirus? -https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trustgo.security&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50cnVzdGdvLnNlY3VyaXR5Il0.-

Thinking of giving it a shot.

    Thanks.

I've not got any AV on my android phone. I didn't think you'd need any as it'd pick up on Windows viruses and Android is based on Linux.

I hear you. I mainly use AV for the locate/wipe features.

On that note just installed BitDefender. Its ok, but it does not seem to scan all apps as Lookout did? Anyone else notice this?

Thanks in advance. Still hoping to get Kaspersky sorted as it seems that they have the best detection rates. Also like the fact that it does call/sms blocking and mugshot pics. ;)

I must admit I pretty much limit what I do on my phone to almost a few apps, calls and texts. I've got a tight security set up on my pc and I don't want it to be ruined by my phone being the weak link.

Understand. I do a lot on my Android so having some extra security gives me at least some sense of security. I do like Lookout but for 30 bucks it does not have all the features of some of the other Android antiviruses out there.

Not sure on BitDefender just yet since I just installed it. Time will tell.

No, there are Android specific viruses and this is what Android AV apps check for - not Windows viruses.

In my opinion if your phone is not rooted and you only download apps from the Play Store the chance of getting infected is pretty low.

It'd seem that the extra security is essential for you, maybe it's something I should get myself so I get more use out of my android phone.

I wasn't aware of this and that's very useful to know. I must admit I find it quite frustrating having a bunch of apps on my phone that I don't need and can't delete that I have to constantly keep up to date.

    You're most welcome :)

Though you don't really sound like a risk users since you seem to be careful about what you install, and if you only download from known safe sources and developers you should be fine regarding the Apps.

TrustGo is only good with Dolphin browser?

Went back to installing Avast today. Used to use it awhile back. Its ok, pretty thorough. Wish it had a few other things. I have been unable to find something that I really like.

How is Norton? Anyone here tried that?

I presume you are talking about apps which came preinstalled on your phone.

You can uninstall these apps. This this is off topic so I won't discuss how to do it here, but you will find lots of links on Google here.
