    Hi @ Wilders

    Need some help please

New PC 16gb Ram AMD Ryzen 3 2200G more detailed spec from Inxi output attachment and Htop attachment.

First installed was Zorin 12, didn't like it, but was also freezing so I changed to Mint Cinnamon 19.1 which also freezes.

The freezing is from time to time but sometimes quite frequent. It involves Chromium and other software such as "Disks" "Backup Tool" etc.

The consequences are Screen freeze, mouse freezes (not every time but most) and keyboard lockup.

No keyboard combinations can unlock the freeze just a reset.

What seems to activate the freeze is a movement of the mouse when navigating through software.

I have scoured the forums and tried everything to no avail.

I can also say I have tried the live CD version of Mint 19.1 and that freezes also.

I am new to linux so patience is needed

    Thank you

    Terry

    Terry,

Freezing when using multiple OS suggests a hardware issue. Your computer is on warranty so I'd contact Support. In the meantime you could check your RAM with MemTest86 v8.1 Free Edition.

    Hi Brian K & wat0114

    Thanks for your input.

@wat0114 I have implemented the suggested changes ie Disable Visual effects. I will wait and see and report back.

@Brian K If the above fails - Back to the shop.

    Thanks again

    Terry

Most likely a GPU driver issue.
