Hi - no rush on this, just a checkup to be sure I'm not missing anything. Ad-Aware turns up nothing except the Alexa RegKey, which I've put on its Ignore list anyway since I understand that it more or less "goes with the territory" with IE.

Only oddball behavior I've noted is that once in a while the last 8 or 10 items in SpywareBlaster's Internet Explorer protection list become unprotected and need "reactivated". I've no reason to suspect problems, but an expert looking over my shoulder would be useful and appreciated.

    Thanks and best,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Check the item below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - (no file)

Then reboot. Just an orphaned registry key.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Thanks Pieter - it's essentially clean, then, but could use trimmed just a little, if I read you right. That was essentially my "gut feeling", but nice to have it confirmed of course.

I'm surprised JV-16 didn't catch that orphaned key -- but nomally I only run it once a week as part of "major housecleaning", and of course that orphan could be new since last weekend.

    Thanks again and best,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

It belonged to Spybot S&D. That may help you tell when you removed it.

    Regards,

    Pieter
