Great guide, on the reddit, especially the hosts file mods.

While I was in hosts I added the following in:

So basically Windows 10 = SpyOS but they are just more "open" about it?
Why do I have the feeling that this is only the tip of the ice berg?

Oh well, Windows 7 is good till 2020 so no worries. :)

NSAKEY has been there since forever. Don't be surprised if Windows 7 is a spy OS, especially after future updates.

Yeah, but at least in windows 7 case I can decline updates (I never allow it to install anything before checking the stuff first). Not so with Windows 10. Unless you pay for Enterprise edition.

Have you read the article? The information collected from Microsoft's own privacy policy! It is not about believing something or not.

I am not sure if you are serious or not.
It clearly means that it is spying on you and making profile on you. What other things they should say to you to make you believe they are spying on you?

I am serious. How can one get a "personalised" experience if they don't have any relevant data? Yes, your GPS program is "spying" on you. Yes, your calendar is "spying" on you. Your keyboard is "spying" on you. The motion sensor on the light in the garage is spying on you...when you completely change the definition of spying.

I use Google Now and it's pretty handy. It anticipates where I'm going and when and provides directions. Some guy at Google isn't "spying" me; I'm pretty sure nobody at Google or Microsoft cares about what I'm doing or what I'm up to. I suppose getting an e-mail from an employee containing private details would pique my curiosity about these voyeuristic notions some espouse...

My favorite is near the bottom of this pic:
Some diagnostic data is vital to the operation of Windows and cannot be turned off if you use Windows.

FYI, anyone looking to add the entries to the hosts file should disable the personalized ads before doing that, or at least temporarily comment out the "choice.microsoft.com" entry. You have to visit that site to opt out, so you would block yourself from getting to it if you add it to the hosts file first.

BTW, I noticed that if I reload that page, the "yes" checkmark is highlighted again just as when I visited the first time. I hope that doesn't mean it's ignoring the "no" check.
