microsoft update cd's

i wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

 

Well this is day 8 and nothing so far.

 

My first order was 02/17/04 and nothing on that one yet. and the second one supposedly was just shipped yesterday. Yeah right.

 

I got a confirmation email today saying that my order (second time around) had been received and is being processed uh-huh.....

 

ordered on march 21, shipped on march 26

 

I think mine must be coming by way of Siberia.

 

I got the first order in today. Can't use the updates since I already have them installed. But I did install the av and firewall.

 

What side of the planet do you guys live on? I have order confirmations but nada!! Guess I will have to be patient and wait.

 

I understand that my cd is now on Venus and should soon be on Pluto and then to Earth maybe. You know those Spaceship people never get it right!!!

 

The cd's I received today are the ones I ordered 02/17/04 I think they came by way of andromeda galaxie.

 

The question though is, who here actually needs the cd to get the updates?

Or is it we all just want something free from MS.

 

If you have xpsp1 it wont update because that is what it installs. along with options for WMP9 and directx 9. and on the second disc is a free year of eztrust av and firewall.

 

With as long as it's taking, MS must also stand for "Mighty Slow".

I'm sure it would have been quicker.

 

You would think that after them saying they have a new batch to send out that it wouldn't take half a lifetime. I guess I can feel fortunate for receiving mine.

 

I just got mine on Saturday. I think mine got lost in the milky way becuase it took forever and a day to recieve it.

BigC I know the firewall is just like ZA but how good is it and the AV? How do you like the firewall and AV?

 

It is a good AV and firewall computer associates has always had good detection rates. I am running CA av also but the server version with two scanner engines. Inoculate and vet. I believe tha the one that comes on the disc has the vet engine. It does pretty darn well. Check it out at

Got my CDs in the mail this a.m. The AV is eTRust but do not know what the firewall is as it does not say on the CDS. Someone told me it may be ZoneAlarm Pro..... anyone here know for sure which one it is and the terms of use?? Been out in the garden all day and have no intentions of being on the computer all evening ... too tired & sore!!

 

The FW is ZA pro lite

 

Thanks - you must have peeked. I already have Zonealarm Pro and am using Avast which so far is working very well for me so I shall just put away the CDs for the time being.

Bit strange they sending all different kinds AV/FW progs.

 

The only thing I've been able to think of is that MS is sending out different 'samplers' from various companies in order to avoid charges of favoritism toward just one company. Anyone else?
