Too costly IMO. You can get a basic laptop in $350 approx.

A starting price around $ 700 would had been nice.

The price is probably a benchmark for the OEM manufacters to beat. :)

Costly, but 128 GB of space is a lot for a tablet so maybe it's justified.

fwiw, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 16 GB of space, and that's enough for all the normal (utility) apps, but high-end games take about 2 GB each and I don't have enough space for videos I want to watch at the gym or during travel.

This is designed to be a hybrid ultrabook/tablet not a basic laptop, lol. It beats prices of ultrabooks and has the advantage of being a tablet.

So actually, it's priced well. To quote a Neowin posters comment:

Macs are always priced high. If one compares it with MacBook Air then we should expect it's sales pretty similar to MacBooks rather than windows laptops.

Well to be honest, i'm not an Apple fan but since you guys made the comparison i'm gonna give my opinion . . . a Macbook Air is way better than this tablet imo, especially the build quality.
I'm guessing this tablet will be the typical all plastic tablet while the Macbook Air is an aluminium unibody . . .

If i had the chance to choose between the two i would take the Macbook Air over that tablet any day and i would then sell the Macbook Air and get myself a Windows Laptop. Hahahahaha

You're still being unfair. This is full Windows. That means:

    • It can run the Android apps emulator (Bluestacks?) allowing you to run all Android apps.
    • It can run iOS emulators allowing you to run iOS apps.
    • It can run Virtual Machines of other OS's including Android or Linux variants.
    • It can run all Windows programs
    • It can run all Metro apps

It's simply hands down the most powerful tablet in existence.

I don,t expect it be powerful enough for a smooth vm experience.

It's as powerful as an ultrabook, what about it makes you doubt its capability?

I agree. There are iPads that cost as much and won't do nearly as many things.

    Here are the specs:

Technical Specifications of Microsoft Surface Pro

    • Processor: Intel Core i5
    • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
    • RAM: 4 GB
    • Internal Storage: 64 GB and 128 GB
    • Connectivity: 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0
    • Display: 10.6 inch (1920 x 1080)
    • Dimension: 6.8 x 10.8 x 0.53 inches

One thing missing no Mobile Cellular Connection built in is that a deal breaker for some?

    Not sure, just my guess.

My old laptop,s CPU ( Pntium M 1.7) doesn,t give a smooth experience. I guess the clock speed on Surface pro might not be enough for that.

    Have not used i5 though.

Not at all. I would prefer it did not come with a monthly AT&T/Verizon bill. I'd really like to put my hands on one of these. Something that powerful and portable is tempting.

USB port = dongles can be used

Pentium M doesn't come anywhere close to an i5. It is frequently used in budget gaming machines.

Can't really see how the Surface (any version) will sell anywhere near MS internal sales figures. It's way over priced. But if those kitschy mini dance numbers ads MS is throwing up 5x an hour fool people who knows.

And if MS learns how to hypnotize (prey on) consumers like Crapple does. Then the skies the limit with these mini musical dance numbers. :D I mean the Surface. :argh:

You sound like a genius, so please enlighten us on how this hardware is overpriced.

There is always more for me to learn and or be corrected. And nowadays I'm just under genius level. I have strong delineated judgements that are quite often right.
