Did you survive Microsoft Super Patch Tuesday (4/12/2011)?

I survived. All three of my Windows XP Pro SP3 PC's are doing fine after all of the updates.

Did anyone encounter any problems or issues?

    Thanks in Advance.

Nothing in the pipe for me yet. My update notifications seem to come in the middle of the night, and usually when I'm busy doing something.

OK thanks :thumb: (Luckily I don't have Office installed). I tend to get the patches on Wednesdays. There again, I live about 8000 kilometres from California. Maybe it takes all that time to get to me LOL!

All three of my clean virtual machines survived (XP Mode, Server 2008, and 7 64-bit).

Physical machine isn't updated yet, because I'm doing other things.

Physical machine just updated. Installing from Windows Update froze, so I've shutdown installed it.

Another one came, another one went. I remain blissfully ignorant.

I stopped even checking for updates til the end of the month. Lately every time I update there's a least one more about a week later.

I hope there's not a lot of important ones. I try my hardest to keep my hard drive as free as possible and then MS comes along every month with more bloat. :doubt:

Eighteen I believe listed as inportant. Patching a targeted OS shouldn't be considered bloat. Installed with no issues.

What is bloat? Unnecessary items or things that make the system feel sluggish?

Have you ever updated and had problems (small or large) or found performance was not as it was?

What percentage of the patches do you really need? (meaning anyone)

Note, I am not saying not to patch. I am saying that on more than 1, or 2, or, erm, I don't recall now how many occasions, I have been a personal host to an update that had less than desirable effects. If you don't know any better, then you get many "features" in the patches, if you want to call them that, that you may not need. I prefer to be very selective about what I patch.

    Sul.

I say "bloat" because the patches MS send out seem excessively large to me. I don't mind updates to my operating system, but I can't help believe they could make them a lot smaller if they really wanted to.

WXP SP3 16 updates 15 before work and 1 after work, I think the quality of the patches could be better. Some patches cause some computers to be unstable and never get remade, it would be better if the patches were made to be more Compatible instead of rushing to get a large amount of patches out.

Somehow, my auto update was turned off. I probably did it a year ago, for some reason.

I had 84 patches for my desktop, win xp, dating back a year. All went in smoothly and no problems at all.

My Vista laptop had 15. Again, no trouble.
