    Although I agree that changing the update to optional is a good idea, it seems much like a waste of time, because the people using the cracks simply won't download it. From what I can see, there are no side-effects to not downloading git.

    unfortunately not all people know they are using/being sold cracks or illegal keys on ebay. They will be hit first but hopefully that will have an impact on the sellers eventually as people wise up to the illegal schemes

    What if you don't connect your Windows 7 computer to the internet for more than 90 days ? It may seem unusual, but not for every application connecting to the internet makes sense, and connecting to the internet raises a privacy and security issue.

    Would the Windows 7 OS still be downgraded ?

    I didn't see the 90 days check, although I didn't read all the links.
    My guess is that it will be part of a future service pack ?
    And what happens when it cannot connect to the internet ?

    I'm not sure what to make of it. Of course there is always the risk of 'false positives'.
