Microsoft updated the security advisory for an information disclosure vulnerability that previously impacted only Windows Remote Desktop Protocol clients to also include the Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android app.
The vulnerability tracked as CVE-2019-1108 and rated as 'Important' has not yet been assigned a CVSS v3.1 score by Redmond's security team.
Exploitation more likely
"An information disclosure vulnerability exists when the Windows RDP client improperly discloses the contents of its memory," says Microsoft's advisory. "An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could obtain information to further compromise the user’s system."
Mitigation measures
Microsoft advises all its Android customers who have Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android installed on their devices to install the latest security update to be fully protected from future attacks.
