Microsoft announced today that extended support for Office 2010 will end on October 13, 2020, at the same time recommending organizations to migrate to Office 365 ProPlus or Office 2019.

This would allow them to continue receiving bug fixes and security fixes since Microsoft will no longer provide any bug fixes for issues that are discovered, security fixes for newly found vulnerabilities, or technical support for issues.

"We also recommend business and enterprise customers use the deployment benefits provided by Microsoft and Microsoft Certified Partners, including Microsoft FastTrack for cloud migrations and Software Assurance Planning Services for on-premises upgrades," adds Microsoft on the Office 2010 end of support roadmap.
Customers should upgrade before the end of support
Microsoft advises organizations that administrators and IT professionals in large enterprises to either upgrade to the subscription-based Office 365 ProPlus that comes with Office 365 enterprise plans or to Office 2019, a product sold "as a one-time purchase and available for one computer per license."

We've been using this at work for a decade. I hope they are budgeting for an upgrade. I don't want to work at a place running unsupported Office, Especially Outlook.

Yeah, great. Now you will have to depend on MS securing there servers, except I believe they farm that out. Research what happened to Quickbooks online users. I use Office 2010 and it does everything I need. I keep it secure and my data is safe on my machines.

Although the company has extended support deadlines for a variety of its offerings, that's not the case with Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac.

Today is Patch Tuesday, and that means that some of Microsoft's products are nearing the end of support. It happens every single month. As Microsoft confirmed in a blog post, Office 2010 is getting its final updates today, as is Office 2016 for Mac.

The firm also reiterated that you'll need Office 2016 (for Windows), Office 2019, or Microsoft 365 Apps in order to connect to services like Exchange and SharePoint Online. Obviously, Microsoft wants users to switch to Microsoft 365. Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac are perpetual license products, meaning that you own them forever.
