For what reason would you want to disable it?

    What is it actually for.?
It keeps making outbound internet connections every hour or so.
Is it absolutely essential to have this running as there are no dependencies i can see.
    Thanks.

This service stops itself when it isn't needed.

    Re: Microsoft net framework.

You're the only one who can answer that question. The reason being that you're the only who uses that system, not us. We don't know what needs or needs not to be running there. A lot of applications you use may require .NET Framework, and you may not even know it.

For instance, if you happen to be using Microsoft EMET, you need .NET Framework. Just an example, of course.

So, unless you're 100% sure that disabling/removing it won't have any nefast effects to how your system runs, then leave it alone. That's my best advise to you.

    Re: Microsoft net framework.

My screenshot shows how my computer is running at the moment.
The top 3 services were disabled when i bought the pc.
I received another net framework via a windows update.

Is it safe to run like this or should all of them be enabled?
    Thanks.

I think that when a new version is installed (through Windows Update, for example), the previous version service gets disabled.

    Re: Microsoft net framework.

    EMET only needs .NET 2.0.

.NET 3 and .NET 4 can be removed/disabled.

And to OP: you should do this from 'Programs and Features'. Disabling services is not the safest approach.

    I removed EMET.
I would sooner disable it rather than remove it.
Ran the computer for over a day with them disabled with no issues.(so far.)

    Re: Microsoft net framework.

I thought I seen it offered in my optional and had hidden the optional updates but if its already installed there after updates are important or critical.Perhaps I am mistaken and thinking of something else.Anyway your probably good with it disabled can't think of any application that require's it, at least I have not ran into anything yet.

It appears as an Important update if an old version was installed by another program you installed.
