Does this mean that windows updates can be accessed by Firefox?

    From the article referenced:
"Customers told Microsoft that "We want to make sure our PCs are running genuine Windows and have access to all the content on the Microsoft Download Center," said Brad Graziadio, the head of the WGA team, on the Internet Explorer blog site."

I don't suppose their customers mentioned they would like automatic updates and be able to use a browser that is secure and that doesn't write hidden index.dat files to their hard drives.

Not trying to be difficult, not try ot start a flame war, I use FireFox and love it, but still I am forced to keep IE to do the Windows update, so what is the advantage of having this "valadation" from MS? If they are going to make updates available from FF then great , otherwise I see no advantage.

Ronjor seems to be saying that automatic updates are possible? Or am I not understanding?

Just out of curiosity, and I don't mean to imply Microsoft is definely using updates to suck information out of machines, but iff you can now use automatic updates with firefox, how long does Microsoft spend "checking your validation"? I guess probably less than a second?
