use a decent ad blocker, eg ublock which can block this, anyhow this thread is about edge and not google popups.
Microsoft Edge (Stable) Version 117.0.2045.43 Release date: September 25, 2023 Release notes for Microsoft Edge Stable Channel: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/d...-channel#version-1170204543-september-25-2023 ----------- Download and configure Microsoft Edge for Business https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download
Microsoft Edge of late has begun repeatedly showing a pop-up dialog almost every time I try to close Edge regarding pinning websites. This can be turned off via edge://flags Show feature and workflow recommendations. Anyone have a reg file for this?
I I'm not finding one. According to what I found searching for one the settings are actually stored here: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Local State It looks like the quickest way to set this is enter this in the address bar: edge://flags/#edge-show-feature-recommendations Set it to disabled and restart.
Well, I won't go into detail since it's a bit off topic, but Vivaldi's tab and bookmarks management is way better, plus Firefox lacks basic features. But on topic, Edge and Chrome are clearly spyware, let's face it.
complete ********. grow up. The question from Amanda is offtopic and a troll question, there is no answer expected, only threatened dogs bark. and dont bother with vivaldi.
I haven't got a clue what you mean. I simply answered Amanda's question about why I believe that Firefox sucks. And it's widely known that Edge and Chrome are not exactly the most privacy friendly browsers. The last link is about Chrome's mobile version, but it's likely it's about the same on the desktop. So first think before you speak/write, because you guys come off as dumb as hell, no offense. https://www.theverge.com/2023/4/25/23697532/microsoft-edge-browser-url-leak-bing-privacy https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/n...ature-sends-images-you-view-back-to-microsoft https://www.theregister.com/2023/09/06/google_privacy_popup_chrome/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdof...apple-iphone-12-pro-max-ipad-and-macbook-pro/
i have reported the questions as offtopic. reading other postings told me so (about A.) the rest is pure spamming due unresolved issues over and over again. ignoring is one, that guy is really beyond. i dont have problems when people speak about this and that, what they miss or similar. but this is awfull and more and more pointless expressions far away from any knowledge and lack of resolving it. enough is enough. now btt which makes a lot more fun. see also https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/comments/16kwpo3/how_to_disable_marketing_and_upsells/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftEdge/comments/16l3ox8/how_to_disable_the_popup_to_pin_urls_on_the/ gpo is better than flags, flags come and go to fast https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-policies#showrecommendationsenabled seen this once, but i had the gpo rule not disabled on that pc.

Perhaps you should report your own post as off topic. And no comments about the 4 links that I posted about Edge/Chrome being similar to spyware? This says enough, quit wasting everyone's time. Yes, and who knows they might someday enable it by ''honest mistake.'' I have already given so many examples of shady practices from Edge and Chrome, but certain people want to remain living in La La Land LOL. I use Vivaldi. I'm not saying they are perfect when it comes to privacy practices, because I'm not naive, but they are clearly better than Chrome and Edge when it comes to collecting data about you, which they claim they don't. I have just posted a link to a privacy review of Vivaldi over here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...ontroversial-tracker-api.452087/#post-3165054
Here is another article about Edge from 2020, when it just switched to Chromium, but I'm sure it has been improved since then in La La Land. https://threatpost.com/microsoft-edge-privacy-busting-telemetry/153733/

I see a lot of edge_BITS_xxxx_yyyyyyyyy folders in %temp% folder. It seems to me that in previous versions there was none. Does the same happen to you?
do you use startup boost? or do you use apps in edge? close any instance, then delete, and watch https://borncity.com/win/2023/10/02...-up-the-temp-folder-with-edge_bits_xxx-files/ https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/112h5f9/strange_empty_edge_bits_folders_in_program_files/ as you can read chrome creates similar folders. for my win10, nothing, also no startup boost, no apps, and no apps allowed to run after edge closed. BITS for me is "Background Intelligent Transfer Service". so i guess edge is working in background, einter still running (startup boost) or you have apps in background.
