Yup still is not fixed. Getting tired of it. Been using Chrome and Firefox but mainly Chrome.

there is nothing to fix. you have processes/apps running which require edge. not to mix up with edgewebview.

    for the sidebar button:
    edge.exe –disable-features=msGenericIconSidebarButton

the question should be: why is there no further edge process on Windows 10/11 for most users when edge (stable) is closed? do not search on edge, search on windows or users setting. do only speak for yourself and not for him, me or others as you do not know other settings. maybe you need to generate a voting thread for this and watch the results.

How you already know that edge processes are closed for most users when edge (stable) is closed?

And yes, I speak for myself and I suspect the majority of users don't even bother/know what processes are running and for what reason.

Weird, so this would mean that Edge behaves differently compared to Win 10? I really don't see any edge.exe processes running when I close it. To clarify, I only use Edge for testing when some website doesn't work in Vivaldi. I sometimes also use Firefox for testing. But they are both crap in my view.

Not sure as I am not running Windows 10 any longer. I am not liking any browser anymore to be honest lol.

i read 3 windows forums and there exist no complaining like here. but i started a questionnaire and i will see forward to a result.
what i have not investigated into your threads here how many builds you are hoping that edge gets a fix for this issue for you. i have really doubt that the next stable (currently beta) will fix it for you, but it may also surprise me. if you count a lot of stables... do you?
i think you are tech savvy enough to investigate, more than a common user. it may helpful to compare items with eg Trooper to get a base.
its not that i dont believe you, its the point: i cannot help you out because lack of informations.

i have 4 windows 10/11 (2+2) installations running, and none keeps edge alive with disabled startup boost and apps ending with edge. i do not use any bing search nor do i use the search bar nor copilot or any feature which is edge related. and also the adobe inside view for pdf is disabled here, i dont like this piece of pain. but any edge (update) task or (update) service is running by default. edge is not creating a desktop icon any longer but now it creates an icon in start menu.

So what? Your 3 forums represent the whole web? There are a lot of complaints out there.
To name just few: reddit, answers.microsoft, elevenforum, etc.

no, but this forum also not. and reddit is not microsoft complaint department. for answer-ms - see image, compare tasks - i dont have audio and search indexer and no subframe. thats what i meant above, you need to compare all, not only edge. if you find out why those are tasks within edge running, just tell us. i dont have that. but the advisor only wrote they he and others, maybe incl MS, have no clue. for you you need also to compare stable and beta in tasks.

That's why you should switch to Vivaldi, you won't see this nonsense and also no spyware like features.

LOL, that looks horrible. But I forgot to mention that I have disabled all services and scheduler tasks related to the Edge updater, perhaps that did the trick for me. :argh:

Are you sure!? You know you want to set Edge as your default browser. Nevermind, we set it for you. And don't forget Bing!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    subframe is this:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/httpsedgeservicesbingcomedgesvcshell/79eadbd7-6b05-4f6b-8e04-c9eaa8a4ef97
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1203651/after-the-latest-update-on-microsoft-edge-i-am-get
seems related to a bing feature in the sidebar, or bing chat.

and "search indexer service" could be related to exchange which means server connection, or windows search indexer. the search bar is able to find local as also web content.

    both is not enabled here.

    That's great! :thumb:

Edge stopped responding here for a few seconds after toggling off.

With Edge 122.0.2365.52, the automated saving of screenshots could finally be turned off in the browser settings, so I reverted the registry change that previously was needed to do that. I also discovered, somewhat horrifiedly, that with Edge being "managed" with the .reg key, secure DNS was locked to "off." I hope my former ISP enjoys the data.

I have frequent freezes with this version of Edge.
I have already submitted feedback and reported an error issue.
I did a restore, scannow, clean data and cache without success.
